Attached is JP's article "Recruiting class another sign of growth at Bona." Following is from article. Over the last five campaigns, Schmidt has elevated the program into not only a top-half stalwart, but one of the best teams in the conference. In that time, Bona has posted the Atlantic 10’s third-best league record behind only Dayton and VCU. And now, on the heels of a record-setting campaign that included an NCAA Tournament victory over UCLA, it's turned a corner from a recruiting standpoint, as well. In the last six weeks, Bona has landed a pair of three-star prospects – Cheektowaga’s Dominick Welch and point guard Kyle Lofton – top-flight California guard Alpha Okoli and one of the most coveted prospects of the Schmidt era – 6-foot-10 forward Osun Osunniyi. It beat out Temple, among others, for the local star, Welch. And it didn't just make Osunniyi’s final list, it beat out Syracuse and Georgetown for his services. Then Schmidt went out and put together what is inarguably the best recruiting class in his 11-plus years on the job. And here's something to keep in mind when it comes to generational players under Schmidt: It lost one in 2012, and its best days still lie ahead. www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/butler-recruiting-class-another-sign-of-growth-at-bona/article_09f7b4ee-61ce-11e8-b41c-438afd0d1d4a.html

It is something how players mentioned at the start of this thread never worked out. As for the Canadian players mentioned with the Bonnies, they were not that good in the 2 big Canadian All Star Games (Biosteel and Canadian Signature). All of these former Bonnie recruits had disappointing games; Keshaun Saunders, Patrick Emilien, Franco Miller, and Jashon Henry. Jashon scored just 5 points in both games. Deon Ejim was the only player, who had a solid performance scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds, which was the most rebounds in the Biosteel game. biosteelallcanadian.com/2018-stats/basketball.realgm.com/highschool/canadian_showcase/Boxscore/2018

He often gets left out on credit. So kuddos to him and what he's done for this program!

Zed Key a 6 6 freshman center out of Brentwood, Long Island had 26 pts 9 rebounds and 3 blocks vs Copaigue. Mentioned this rising star in late October. Class of 2020, we are among the latest to offer.

You never know. -- Mickey Pearson signed with St. Louis the highest mid major (along with Bona) to make an offer. -- Bona is now the highest mid major offer. -- Most schools, especially Power 6 schools and high mid majors have completed their 2018 recruiting. This is a reason why Schmidt has been so successful signing quality players in the summer. Reasons why Mickey was under recruited. -- Played at John Hardin, which is a small school in Kentucky. Hardin had just 8 players on the team and would use jayvee players in order to have practice. -- John Hardin had a good season during Mickey's junior season, but would make Kentucky's Sweet Sixteen Tournament for Mickey's senior season. Lost first tournament game by 3 points. -- Signed with St. Louis in November during early signing period, which was prior to Mickey and his school's great season. -- Mickey is like Osun and was not evaluated by Rivals, Scout and ESPN, which resulted in the 2 stars. Evaluation from Next Up Recruits Mickey has been at Next Up Recruits events since he was a rising Sophomore. His game has improved and continues to improve every time we see him. The St. Louis commit is as long and skilled from the wing position. Pearson can kill you inside and out, which make him such an offensive mismatch. He is a rebound machine and will lead a break with his head up and make a play. His jump shot looks good and consistent with range. Look for Pearson to have a big senior year and put up crazy numbers this season at John Hardin. Mickey Pearson would be a great use of Schmidt's "scholarship saved in his back pocket." -- He is 6'8", who can play both power and small forward. He is very athletic, which is shown by attached videos. -- He is a typical Schmidt recruit, who is a late riser and has a lot of potential. -- He made Kentucky's 1st team and was a finalist for Kentucky's Mr.Basketball. -- Prep Hoop writer predicted Mickey would be the runner-up for Kentucky's Mr.Basketball. -- Averaged 25.7 points and 11 rebounds per game. Led Hardin in three-point shooting with 71 makes on 187 attempts for 38 percent. Mickey's 3 point shooting was developed during senior season. Shot 48% overall from the field and 53% from within the arc. The big concern with Mickey Pearson is the low level of competition he faced at Hardin. He replaced Maze Stallworth to become Hardin's all time leading scorer. Maze press clippings were not as impressive, as a senior where he averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and named Second-Team All-State. Maze would become a career average double digit scorer and 2nd leading scorer on Morehead's 24-11 season. Mickey Pearson would be a great final signing. Hopefully he is considering the Bonnies. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUFP6jV0IoQendlessmotor.net/2017/08/11/mickey-pearson-18twenty-two-vision-2017-adidas-summer-championship-highlights/www.kentucky.com/sports/high-school/prep-basketball/article204927999.htmln.rivals.com/content/prospects/2018/mickey-pearson-208226stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=208666www.prephoops.com/2018/03/mr-basketball-preview/www.nextuprecruits.com/news_article/show/858935msueagles.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=482

My superficial analysis used Verbal Commits data, 6'7" SF at 177 lbs..which sounded like a Bobby Planutis clone. Plus my view that we don't need more SF for this year as I had Stockard/Chef/and some combination of Welch/Akoli and of course Melki (when I read the announcement data was that he was able to also play the 3). Looking through your links and data, he is bigger than 177, looks strong, and looks like he can play the 4 also.....will be interesting to see what happens to the kid. I wonder why he decommitted from Travis Ford? He had a bird in hand, so something must have come up.....or will he prep and open up higher level offers than he initially garnered? We must have been impressed to offer initially, so he must have a good upside. Maybe Chris Mack at Louisville?

Are we sure he de-committed from SLU? This smells more of Ford running someone off after signing players he perceives to be better.
