I hate to rain on the Snow bashing parade and I admit that I know nothing about her job responsibilities, but the athletics program has to be self-supporting-especially basketball. I really don't believe a school with Div-1 athletics should be financially propping up athletics with the general fund. If the athletics dept. wants to buy a new basketball floor on its schedule, then alumni and supporters need to start busting out the checkbook.

Some of you have hit the nail on the head finally. Superman could be named the next AD but it won't matter as long as we have certain administrators making decisions. They dropped the ball on 3 important athletic facility upgrades that ALL had MAJOR LEAD gifts offered. Brownglory, there are alumni and supporters who want to do the right thing for athletics and have tried but the administration refuses to take the handcuffs off the athletic department.

TM as I said, three major athletic facility upgrades were bungled or squashed, one being an indoor practice facility for baseball, soccer, softball and women's lacrosse. Intra-murals also would have been able to use this facility. A donor for one of the other projects was asked to change and put their lead gift towards a non-athletic project and instead put it back in their pocket. Folks are willing, ready and able to help athletics. Some people unfortunately feel that athletics doesn't bring much to the table for SBU. It is a very exciting time on campus with all the new construction projects going on, maybe athletics will get an opportunity to complete some of their initiatives one day.

Clubber, This is a lose-lose situation for all. The students put tremendous stock in athletic facilities and need to stay on the cutting-edge. I'm surprised more people haven't shared their SBU athletics horror stories. Why haven't we called administrators onto the carpet. (We all know who I'm referring to). For the school to negate a potential monetary gift, reagrdless of where it's earmarked is ludicrous. The capital campiagn is a noble idea but again, athletics are commly known to attract students, enhancing visibility and branding. More students = more $$$. -- TM

New Name for discussion Ron Bertovich
Ron was the A-10 commissioner who helped get the conference off the ground vis-a-vis his marketing savy and experience, including bringing the A-10 out into the TV world. Former Executive VP of the Sabres who came away from the whole Rigas debacle with zero stains on his shirt. Former Empire Sports Network VP & GM, I repeat who understands and knows sports marketing. Recently the Mid-Continent Conference Commissioner who left to be closer to his family in Western NY!
While not a Bona alum (St. Francis, PA - close enough), he has the integrity, talent, personality and most importantly the successful experience to make the difference we are all looking for at Bona's.
I know Ron personally as a great and caring guy and if he's interested I truly believe he is the solution to our and SBU's need - now and going forward.

Well, what's emerged as the truth is that Zwierlein is retiring because the Administration is stiffing athletics. That's typical St. Bonaventure University management. Wow!
SBU has the makings of a splendid athletic complex going for it. A million or so to renovate the Reilly Center and accepting the gift for the practice facility would almost put us there. Another gift toward indoor tennis courts and we'd have it. What a regional draw all that would be! BTW....is the Physical Education Bachelor's program still in existence? It was a fairly popular program when I was a student but I haven't heard anything about it in quite awhile. poular program when I was student

There is no way that the guy who puts together the media guide is qualified to be the AD. I hope this was a joke.
Also, Steve Mest is Chris Dicerbo's brother in law
