A friend of mine is moving, with family, to Troy (he just bought 5 Burger Kings in the Dayton area). He's a NYC lifer and is concerned about getting good Italian food. Any suggestions/recommendations about food and/or the area? This gives me a good reason to watch the Bonnies when they are in Dayton.

I spent 3 years in Dayton. I'm afraid that there are not a lot of great Italian restaurants in the Dayton area, unless of course you like pizza. Marion's, a local pizza chain, is absolutely the best. It takes some getting used to because they cut the pizza in small square pieces and pile the toppings about an inch high. Other great places to dine, Pine Club (take cash, no credit cards), Jay's Seafood and Steak House, and the Winds in Yellow Springs.

Have him get tap water delivered from NYC. It makes the pizza rise -- but then again, that area, the people might like the chicago style pizza. He should also bring in the Boars Head Cold Cuts.
