anyone hear which players where in the fight at youngers saturday nite?i heard today its under investigation Actually, I was at Younger's on Saturday, and the basketball players were NOT in a fight. There was an altercation in the bar, but none of them were involved. The "fight" wasn't a big deal anyways. Why, WHY do people get jollies out of throwing our team under the bus in posts like this?

I was at the bar also, and sorry to let everyone down, but the team was not in a fight.
There was a little altercation, everyone was ushered out, and the basketball team had nothing to do with it.
And no, Peaches was not throwing up on the deck, throwing drinks at bartenders, or driving drunk. He did however, have a backwards hat on.

I wonder how many of the players were at the bar? More importantly should they be in a bar? Are they old enough? I hope the bar isn't selling booze to under age kids!! Can't Coach Solomon put some restrictions on these players.

Hey SoCalKid, relax! These are just kids. They need to experience life at SBU just like any other student. Did you ever drink alchol before reaching your drinking age? The Bonnie players for the most part are good role models. Afterall, they will be at the Little St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany for their church picnic. Lets give the players a little credit. Isn't California considered living life in the fast lane?

There were actually 2 seperate altercations and yes some of the players were involved. Probably nothing will come of this though. First hand account as I know the kid who was sucker punched.

It is Youngers though and this sort of stuff happens all the time there. It was packed and anytime there are a lot of people drinking in a crowded environment, something is bound to happen. Its a shame this stuff has to happen, but it would be in the players best interest to avoid places like this. They do stick out in a crowd and are starting to get a bad rap down there.

What is exactly the problem with of age players being at a bar in the middle of the summer? None of the players were out of control, some didn't even have drinks in their hands.
Magnu, could you please elaborate on the "bad rap" they are receiving? Some of the crowd that hangs out at Youngers make our players look like choir boys.

I honestly think that Coach Solomon needs to lay down the law to the players re: expectations for on and off-campus behavior. The team is getting a bad rep...maybe not altogether deservedly....but nonetheless a bad rep. Perhaps some counseling is needed about exercising good judgement in keeping out of places like Youngers. I realize that these are young college students but they represent the entire St. Bonaventure University family ...whether they like it or not. Maybe time for a man-to-man sit down talk to with these guys when the semester begins next month, Coach.

I don't know where YOU went to school, "Mr. Bonaventure," but the Bonaventure that I went to preached morality and values, which certainly did NOT include going to the bars whilist underage. Drinking is abhorrent and, in fact, should be outlawed. Prohibition was the right idea. To call themselves "Bonnies" is a disgrace to the Bonnie name. For alcohol to even touch their lips--even if they are "of age"--is antithetical to the Franciscan spirit of SBU. While I was a student, my group, the Morality Society, used to speak out against things like this. In fact, we attempted on several occasions to shut down the Burton, the OP, the Hickey and other bars. For them to operate in the same town as a Catholic university--for shame! And that's what I say to these "role models" hanging out in bars--for shame!

Are you kidding me this is St. Bonaventure... and the St. Bonaventure we all know and love many of our good memories we all have usually focused around having a nice cold beer with our buddies at fill in the blank bar. Do you think none of this happened under Baron's watch?
I hope your post is sarcasm, I really do.

Tony I think you are a bevelator and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite posters. Good work. Beer and Bonaventure oh my God. Basketball players or Bonas students getting a bad rap from townies who would have thought it possible?

There are far worse places than Youngers that the players could be at. I don't see the harm in the players going to the bars with each other. If Solomon didn't allow them to go to the bars and took away a big part of their social lives they would not react positively and it would end up hurting the morale of the team. The last thing the Bonnies need are attitude problems and hostility toward the coaching staff.

Hamrucker, I agree with you 100% about some of the crowd that hangs out there, but thats part of my point that they should stay away from there. If they start to get a rap of getting in fights at bars, then this same crowd that loves to start fights just for the sake of starting fights is going to look for them. All I know is that there were some people that were upset over what happened that night, thus giving the players a bad rap.
