I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I hope not to spoil the holiday for those who hate Gansey but I thought that I'd let everyone know that he signed a 2 year deal with the Miami Heat!! That's right, Mike will be entering rookie camp as a member of Shaq's team. They were the only team without a draft pick and scooped him up the day after the draft. Congrats Mike!!!

I was wondering if this could possibly be posted on the West Virginia board? First off, Gansey is no different than Q Habeeb, Jermaine Ellis, Antoine Wills, Daks Williams, Khan El-Amin, Hamilton Rucker, Jerome Spellman, or any other former SBU player that didn't make it through four years with the program. I don't care, and most people on here don't care. Second of all, how in the hell is he going to play in the NBA when he isn't allowed to wear his gigantic t-shirts under his jersey to cover up his bacne? Just wondering. Peaches>Gansey.

Also, Etienne Norris doesn't care either.

I don't have a problem with Gansey. He did what he did and if we were in his shoes many of us might have left also. That being said I find it interesting that the main argument for him going to the Big East was the millions of dollars that he was going to make because of this change. He is probably not going to have a long lucrative career in the NBA. Every team in the association had a shot at him and they all passed. It is great he signed with the Heat, but odds are he won't last. Maybe Tim Winn can put in a word for him with the Razorsharks because that is really his level.

The thing that differentiates Gansey from these others you mention is talent, drive and desire Relph better than Gansey...that's a question that will be answered in the next two seasons.

SirElton - Gansey is five times the player that Relph is, was or will ever be. I know this is a bold statement, but Relph will not lead Bonas to the Final Four. Nor will Relph get a sniff from the NBA.

They also offered D-Wade a 5 year extension. Sort of stole the Gansey spotlight.

West Virginia shooting guard Mike Gansey was undoubtedly downtrodden after being ignored in the NBA draft on June 28.
That feeling was replaced with euphoria when the 2001 Olmsted Falls High School graduate agreed to a two-year contract with the world champion Miami Heat, an NBA source confirmed Monday.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder leaves this week and will play with the Heat’s summer-league entry in the Orlando summer league. He agreed to a two-year deal worth $1.1 million, much of which is guaranteed ($412,718 in 2006-07 and $687,456 in 2007-08).
About 10 teams called Gansey after he wasn’t drafted. It probably worked out better for him after not being picked early in the second round. The Heat didn’t have a draft pick this season and appear to be high on Gansey’s potential.
His West Virginia teammate, 6-11 center Kevin Pittsnogle, will also play for the Heat in the summer league. Pittsnogle wasn’t drafted, either. Both players worked out for the Cavaliers before the draft.
Many Cleveland fans wondered why the Cavaliers took Nigerian forward Ejike Ugboaja with the 55th pick instead of Gansey. Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry said he didn’t want three rookies on their roster this season. They selected Michigan State shooting guard Shannon Brown in the first round and Texas point guard Daniel Gibson in the second.
Ugboaja will not play for the Cavaliers this season.

Good for him, I have no hard feelings toward him and I have always blamed the administration for putting him in that situation to begin with. It looks like he made the right choice as well because I doubt he would have gotten that if he stayed at Bonas. I love Bonas but sometimes things are more important then going to a certain school.
On a side note I was in West Virginia skiing this year and I saw a guy with a bright yellow t-shirt on that said "My sister slept with Gansey". I thought it was a little strange but I laughed.

Equation should read Peaches<Gansey Also Peaches<Tim Flanagan Let's wait and see if the Messiah shows up to play this year before we crown him a savior.

Every team in the association had a shot at him and they all passed. Same thing happened to JR and I remember people saying that he would be better off since he would potentially be able to select from different teams rather than have a team select him.

Dem,
Two of the most underachieving more heralded brown indian recruits were timmy flanagan and brian west. i know weise hurt timmy by yo-yoing him up and down from the frosh team to the varsity, but he underachieved all 4 years. i knew west met and eventually married a very nice bonnette...any other insight into their underachievement ?

I thought Sats was Flanagan's coach....I do remember when I got there there was all this talk about how they weren't giving Tim a chance. I also recall him getting a "free dozen" doughnuts from Donut Dip or some such spot near AJ's and across from St. Fran's Hospital...that earned him yet another trip to Sat's Dawg House...which was darn difficult to escape from. I think he may have even packed it in by his senior year 75 or 76) That's where I conjure up the similarities between Relph and Flanagan...both guys trying to live up to their hype but good times got in their way. Both have a good handle but are not sharpshooters from the outside and neither has the height and bulk to go to the hole. Flanagan did have an excellent handle and I think Relph does too. Still there is only one guy since Glen Hagen, that being Marques Green, who looked like they were in complete control of the bball at all times. Vanterpool was close and Tim Winn also but Winn was often times so quick, he lost the rock off the dribble. I'm hoping that Relph can snap out of the playboy mode and concentrate on academics and hoops cuz he has potential but his numbers are poor to date and his downside/darkside is huge. Mike Wager (a family friend) had a great career in high school...Rochester..maybe McQuaid. His Dad and Larry played semi-pro ball together...but Mike lacked the size to play against folks like John Tate/UMass and Ramon Rivas/Temple. He was there when DeCarli coached but may have been recruited by OB. I remember watching Tate put a butt cheek box out on him that sent him almost out of the arena. I think he played with Pat Allen in that time frame but his college numbers were abysmal with the hype out of high school. I think there was some bigger schools than us that tried to land him too.
