Mark Lyons is on the move.
The 6-foot, 170-pound shooting guard/combo guard from Schenectady, New York, recently decided to transfer to the South Kent School in Connecticut from Schenectady High School. Lyons will reclassify and become a member of the class of 2008.
"I really made it official about two weeks ago," said Lyons. "I wanted a new environment. Also, I like Coach Chillious a lot."
Lyons is a scoring guard with another gear off the dribble. He can get to the rim, he sees the floor well, and wields a strong feel for the game.
"Cheeks" has received interest from a wide variety of programs.
"I've heard from Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Fordham, Seton Hall, UNLV, St. John's, Siena, St. Bonaventure, Princeton, Army, Georgia Tech, UMass, and South Florida," said Lyons. "Fordham, Seton Hall, Siena, and UMass have offered."
Lyons said that he may have had an opportunity to go to Nike Camp, but he missed the camp circuit with a bad back.
Lyons travels with the Albany City Rocks. Next up for the Rocks is the Main Event in Las Vegas.
