Attention now is focusing on Milade Lola-Charles, Laurel's 6-9 rising senior center, who is considering offers from Delaware, Virginia Commonwealth, St. Bonaventure, Rhode Island and Hampton. Lola-Charles averaged 5.4 points last season.
"He'll probably make a decision at the end of the [July evaluation] period and decide who his top three are or maybe even verbal to somebody," Coutreyer said.
Has anyone seen him play? At 5.4 points I'm wondering what his other stats look like.

Not sure about his ability, but this would continue our current string of hyphenated players which goes back through Nelson-Richards, Messiah-Capers and Methot-Lottin.

Thanks for the "heads up" on MILADE, HOOPS! Seeing VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH mentioned made me think of a few things. Is former Coach Brannen recruiting against us for MILADE? Also, it made me think of a recruit we were after a couple years ago who had us as one of his finalist but chose VC. ERIC WHITEHURST(also 6'9") chose VC but did not qualify there. I heard last year he was tearing it up at ALLEGHENY CC. I wonder if we are involved with him again. When a head coach replaces his top 3 assistants. does a program go after who the new coaches are familiar with or does the head coach tell them who to go after?

Really did average only 5.4 a game as a junior. Shot only 35 percent from the line, too. Scored three points each time Laurel played Jourdan Morris' Roosevelt team (losses by 31 and 9). Laurel went just 9-13. Born in Nigeria and, like Lottin, took a roundabout route (through Rome) to DC - his dad was a Nigerian diplomat. Below is an article about Milade. Not only do his teachers and his coach have nothing but good things to say about him, it sounds as if he's developing, evident by his numbers (9, 12 & 2 per) as of the article. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/28/AR2005122800713.htmlFor what it's worth, he scored in double-figures only twice after this piece was written. Must have patted the stats out of conference.
