What does the inscription beneath the statue of Mary in the circle outside Hickey Dining Hall refer to? LOCUS IN QUO STAS TERRA SANCTA EST DOMINUS DEDIT 1855 DOMINUS ABSTULIT 1950 SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICTUM Which google translates to: A place where you are standing on holy ground The Lord gave 1855 The Lord takes away 1950 Blessed be the name of the Lord Attachments:

That's exactly what is reads. It's an older script "3" that's obscured by the crack in the stone.

Ok that makes complete sense. What an incredible building lost in that great fire. Just imagine the majesty of seeing that building on our great campus today. Just as tragic was the loss of many of the old university records - irreplaceable.
