Grant Newell is the classic 3 wing. He gets off the floor quickly, plays stout defense aided by great anticipation. He hustles with strong motor and seemingly engages in over 75% of his teams plays. He can block shots and pushes the tempo up the floor. He has great range and touch and easily scores at all 3 levels. This kid is a plus copy of Dominck Welch with the main difference being a higher shooting percentage. Give me this kid, the 6'8 stud from Putnam and another complete guard and I'm not looking in the rear view mirror. You would be replacing a great 5 man nucleus with another 5 man high level squad. The big question is do we recruit another 6'10 big or trust Doro and Couliby after we see them on the court this year.

Grant Newell is being recruited by both Illinois and Depaul. Interest level is gaged as cool. Have seen him rated as a 3 star and as high as a 4 star by espn something or other. Of course I can't re-find the sources.

A couple of the Bonnies recruits off the board recently - both big man prospects - Peter Carey committed to 'Cuse and Ifeanyi Ufochukwu to Boston University. Those were the only two Center prospects with offers thus far.

There are others but the staff is keeping them under wraps. I have Newell and Luis as my top 2

I wonder if we will sign anyone in the early signing period in November. I assume we have 5 ships. The last early signing was Q Metcalf which did not work out. I would imagine we would sign someone who is very high on our list, otherwise wait for spring, and checkout transfers
I remember when we worried when we didnt sign anyone in the fall. The sky would be falling, and the complainers would start. Comments like we missed on X, a local guy, etc.

I'm also hopeful that we'll be more in a reload mode than a rebuild after our starting 5 graduates. If these guys all are what we think they are, Saizonou, Rumpel, Adams, Brown, Mellouk, Coulibaly, and Duro is a solid 7 to begin with. It would be ideal to land a big man to complete an 8 man rotation, with JNT as a depth piece and transfer options yet to come.

It is reported that we visited PSA today to see BARRY EVANS ahead of his official visit this weekend (Oct 1st). I have seen him listed at 6'7" and 6'8" Here he is at Oakland Mills HS as a junior 6'6" (just North of Baltimore) in January 2020. A lefty that finishes exceptionally well with his right hand. youtu.be/iLNewrYBwcE

WE Still have quadry adams, linton brown, duro, caulibally, mellouk, and the freshman from canada so i wouldn't put next years starting 5 in stone. + 2 pretty dynamic high potential athletic combo guards: - JORYAM SAIZONOU - BRETT RUMPEL ++ the Argentine 🇦🇷 6-7 or 6-8 combo forward as a walk-on gobonnies.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/pedro-rossi/4207✅ The 14th man 🇦🇷 is now included on the roster at 6-8! 👏💪🏻
