I am part of a group planning on playing on Saturday at the Bona golf course. A group from the class of 1975 made reservations for this coming weekend at the Old Library B&B when our reunion in 2020 was postponed because of, well you know why. Even though this year’s event was officially postponed again, we decided to keep the reservations and get together anyway. At least four of us will be golfing and a larger group heading to the Beef and Barrel, Tasta Pizza and maybe the Burton to see the new mural of the Bona Wolf and grab a burger. So I know the region has had plenty of rain recently and I am hopeful the course is in good shape. Can anyone who has played it recently advise of the conditions? Not that it really matters to my game, but I know the course often dries out quickly and is much more pleasant and fun to play when green and lush. Plus I know there is a new Clubhouse to aim for.

Plus I know there is a new Clubhouse to aim for. here's the scouting report, ceharv:...the course is in fine shape except there was some water on the 7th hole going up the fairway to the green...I don't ever remember that hole getting a little soggy...#3 by the tracks would have been my guess for water, but it was okay...the clubhouse building is very nice...the food is good but I think a little pricey by Bona-area prices...a wide selection of brews...Beef and Barrel as good as always...same with Tasta Pizza...and the mural at Burton's is great...and the Burtonburger is great as always...

Allegany is greener than Ireland. Concur with Sen. on clubhouse.... pricier than local fare, but smaller servings. Wondering if the burton made any special arrangement to use the bona logo?

My sister and bro-in-law are members. They say the Bona course is in as good a shape as it's ever been. My understanding is the course will soon add several water hazards to help toughen the layout.
I can concur about the greenery. With all the rain the area gets, it's understandable.

Sen, don't forget Randy's for Friday fish fry. Or, if you drive 30-some miles east, Texas Hot in Wellsville.

Da relatives were here from Southern California and we went to the Club House for lunch.
Looking out over the course with the Olean Hills in the background they said " its so green it makes our eyes hurt ". They have seen more rain in the last two weeks than they, have had in the last two years!
I LOVE OLEAN

[/quote The course is in excellent shape...the key will be when we hit a dry spell...will the course be watered?...how often?...another thing I was wondering about is what, if anything, is going to be done with that little shack that was built before the new clubhouse was built?...that would be a great spot for golfers to stop and grab a bottle of water and a snack while continuing to finish 18...I know there's the clubhouse but the shack would be more like for someone to grab a drink and/or a snack and then continue playing....
