This is the perfect time to use this notoriety to start a football team... I have to believe your omission of 'leave the masks outside' must have been an oversight.

The school is already making a killing on selling half-sized wieners for full price. Is the problem really that the wiener is too small? Or is it that some buns are just too g-damned big? Man has been asking this question for millennia.

Starting the season ranked is a very big deal. It has ramifications all season.
I’m not saying it’s right but the committee always takes the preseason rankings too seriously. It will help with seeding and/or if we end up on the bubble. “You know they were ranked to start the season, this is a really good team” etc.
Also very happy that the guys could receive this well deserved honor

Thanks for posting this, fjs. A lot of B's on that chart (Billions), not to mention enrollment numbers 9 and 10 times as large.
Bona has many things in its favor...a beautiful campus, a close-knit campus community, a quality education, a passionate fan base, and the tradition that Bonnies basketball embraces. Not to mention the nearby towns that are hoop hotbeds thanks to high schoolers who draw inspiration from their collegiate counterparts. A town-gown bond that is rock-solid.

Hope this link works.....a comparison of the Top 25 by enrollment and endowement: What's really impressive is where you see Gonzaga on the list and what they've done! Bonas is closing the gap.

Not to be captain literal man, but it's not like those endowment $$$ are for athletics. It would have been more useful, and help the author, if he used MBB budget.
Countless schools have HUGE endowments and suck at hoops while others like Memphis and the Zags have smaller endowments.

USA today has Bonas at #24
"Though the power conferences hold a wide majority of the positions, the panel did recognize St. Bonaventure. The 24th-ranked Bonnies make their first Top-25 appearance since USA TODAY began administering the coaches poll in the 1991-92 season."

Wonder if Jim Boeheim voted for the Bonnies? Naw, his vote probably went to the Orangemen.

Would like to get to a point in time where people on the Syracuse board talk about the Bonnie's as we do the Orange. At least Schmidt doesn't bring attention like nose picking and public urination.

Starting at 19-20 is good - enough to get respect but not too 10 so something to shoot for, something greater to prove.

Looking back at the 2019 preseason AP poll to see where Dayton was ranked. Very surprised to see they were not ranked … and got exactly one vote. www.si.com/college/2019/10/21/college-basketball-rankings-ap-top-2Flyers finished #3 at 18-0 and 29-2 with two OT losses (Kansas and Colorado) before the shutdown. That is one hell of a climb so no reason the Bonnies cannot do something similar if we get off to a great start.

Not that this is a surprise based on our ranking, but still wonderful to see. Bonnies are listed as NY’s top dawg in CBS sports’ ranking by state. www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/united-states-of-college-basketball-2021-22-where-every-team-ranks-in-each-state-from-top-to-bottom/St. Bonaventure Syracuse St. John's Buffalo Colgate Iona Siena Army Hofstra Wagner Niagara Cornell “State of the state: Bathe in this, Bonnies fans. The most hyped season in five decades is here. Four years ago I ranked St. Bonaventure ahead of Syracuse and Orange fans lost their minds. This time around, probably not as much because most everyone objectively sees that the Bonnies have a superior roster heading into the start of the season. I've got Bona No. 19 in my 1-358 and Syracuse No. 46. The gap between the two hasn't been this big since Bob Lanier was lacing them up in Olean. New York has a lot of teams you could see on your tournament bracket in March. Buffalo, Iona, Siena and Colgate all have their sights set on winning their leagues. And in Queens, St. John's will probably be No. 4 or No. 5 in the Big East.”
