I think the term “student athlete “ may be an anomaly in today’s collegiate sports. Today athletes are more apt to be loyal to themselves. Today look at what is happening with NIL and the portal. Is an education that valued when you transfer to different schools because of a perceived better sports opportunity. Scholarships are year to year. It is a business. Schmidt got his raise last year. Now he has got to deal with new challenges. Let’s hope Bonas gets a good return on their investment.

I understand the portal etc.. but my preference is to keep the guys we have and search for talented freshmen first and focus specifically on that.
My rationale: transfers are creating havoc for young players who go to a school to play and grow their games not be recruited over. Bring in really good players with the understanding that they are the future and both sides need to commit to 4 years. When you have an established coach who has leeway, we can afford to build a pipeline versus try to recreate magic every year and hope the guy who left another program works for us.
For reference please see the Tampa Bay Rays - probably the best farm system in baseball, out of necessity.

St Bonnie’s is a peculiar possessive usage or spelling. Right up there with tv announcers who say “St Bonaventures”… like there are more than one.

I've seen Foster Loyer. And Joe Girard, you're no Foster Loyer You're correct. He's better than Foster Loyer. Girard was a 4 year starter in the ACC, averaged 17 points a game this year and shot 38% and 40% from three the past two years. Against an ACC schedule. And a career 86% from the free throw line. We would kill to have someone like that in the lineup. Loyer played three years at Mich St in the Big 10 and failed miserably. Barely played. He found his proper level at Davidson and the A-10 and was great last year. Not so great this year. Granted, neither can guard a lamp shade. We have been trying to find a knock down three point shooter for years. You watch. Girard will end up at Davidson and torch us and the A-10 next year.

I see Oduro following coach English to Providence...maybe others will too. GMU will definitely have to reset.

via Twitter, Bona staff, including Coach Schmidt had a zoom meeting today with Maryland transfer, Isaiah "Ike" Cornish, 6'6" 190 lb, who is listed on the Maryland roster as a g/f. Ike didn't play his first year and saw very limited minutes this year. He played high school basketball in Baltimore and prepped at a school in SC for a year. He is scheduled to make an official visit April 16-18 to St Bonaventure.

Mnbonnie lol I am excited to hear why you think that this player from Maryland will be perfect for us. It seems like any player we show any interest in you think they’d be perfect. Haha I swear you’d prefer all new players each year. Jk jk.
