Know nothing about lacrosse but watched the Archers and Brett Dobson move onto the finals with a win in the semis yesterday nationally televised on ABC. Dobson interviewed after the win and received all sorts of platitudes from the announcers throughout the game. Can anyone who follows the league provide some insight?

Dobson is one of the best goalies in both the PLL with the Archers and the NLL with the Swarm. Still selfishly bummed he’s not a Bandit. In the past two days the Bandits signed two Bonnies, Austin Bloombergs, and Zach Belter. Hopefully they have a good training camp and earn a shot to be on the active roster at some point. Unfortunately for them the Bandits are an absolutely stacked team so they will face and uphill battle to do that.

Even more basic info needed on my end. Dobson, the Archers and the others are Bona grads? What are the high points of their Bona careers? And is the Premier League the top league in the US, or just a minor or development league?

Bona has club hockey. I seriously doubt it has any plans to add either a men's or women's NCAA team. The costs would be prohibitive. Operating costs are bad enough, but to add hockey would require building a new ice arena. No league, even the bottom-feeding Atlantic Conference, of which Canisius and Niagara are members, is going to allow in a team that plays in the Olean Rec Center. As far as I know, the league has no minimum capacity requirements but I can't see them admitting a team that plays in a facility that doesn't seat at least 1,200-1,500. (By comparison, Hockey East has a minimum capacity requirement of 4,000.)
The only way Bona will ever have an NCAA hockey team is if someone can convince Terry Pegula to bankroll the whole thing as he did for his alma mater, Penn State.

I always thought the Reilly Center would make a great converted ice rink. However, SBU would need a new basketball and pool before that could EVER really be a consideration.

Interesting fact I just found. Joe Paterno's grandson and granddaughter play Lax at Bonas. I am glad they are here at Bonas. Please no Ahole comments.
At least for Men, Penn St has not only D1 Lax, but a really strong Club team. My son is a Penn Stater, (who still plays lax in his 30s) went to one Club practice, and said he was over his head talent wise - he said the Club team had alot of D1 talent, that either just wanted to be at Penn State, or did not want to make the time commitment that a D1 sport requires.

Brett Dobson won his 2nd in a row MVP of the PLL playoffs. His team won 12-8.
I tried to post a picture of him(unable to) entering today’s venue, decked out in Bona gear!! He is a proud Bonnie!

In the semi final Dobson allowed a PLL record 1 goal. He was less than a minute away from recording the first ever professional lacrosse shut out.
