There were many questionable calls against the Bonnies in this game. But it is nothing compared to what the Bonnies will face in Pittsburgh. The Dukes are winless in the A-10. They will pull all the stops to get a win. They will get sympathetic refs. It's been going on for 70 years, never fails. Schmidt will have to design a five against eight defense. Bonnies will be in foul trouble all game.

The Bonnies played poorly on both ends today. It’s not about the refs. Coach and players need to be better or we will lose to the Dukes. We are not good enough to win without better effort.

Duquesne is not a resilient team. Like many of Dambrot’s squads they go on a little run and they celebrate like it’s a national championship. But if you go on a scoring run of your own they fold up

i think JOHN BELLANTI, STEVE HONZO, and MIKE LONSKI are going to be the assigned refs ! with DICK PURPARO as the back up.

So is this the official Duquesne game thread? So anyway, Dukes open as 2.5 point favorites.

I watched the DUKES loss to Dayton 10 days ago and was very impressed for a team 0-5 in the conference. They took it to the FLYERS down just 4 pts with 8 mins to play and lost by 10.
Then watched them loose on the road to the Spiders by 2 in a game they should have won. Not at all surprised they are favored tomorrow. GRANT (18.2 ppg) and CLARK III (16.2 ppg) are dynamic players. They score 44% of the team's points. Their entire bench plays and all pitch in some points. ROZIER is their # 3 scorer with just 7.4 ppg. At 5'9" he is arguably the best floor general we have faced with a 3.2 A/TO Ratio (#4 in conf).
Their last 2 pt loss at St Joes must really have them smarting and pumped to put a beating on us.
If CLARK III saw our 6 TOs in final 7 mins in our loss to GM he must be drooling. He has 39 steals, 2nd best in the conference. Protect the ball for the ENTIRE game!
If we can only get to the stripe a comparable # of times in a close game we should have the advantage. As the # 5 FT shooting team in the nation & #1 in the A10 our 79% conversions may edge out their 71% makes.
We have better shooters. #3 TREY% (.372) to their #11 (.348). Our FG% is # 3 (.466) to their # 14 (.433)
We have defended TREYS better. # 3 (.307) to their #11 (.348). However in spite of their 0-5 conf record they are defending TREYS far better in conf play. They are now #3 (.325).
Thanks to CHUCK, ASSA & BARRY our Reb Margin is #7 (+2.3) while they are #10 (-1.4). However they are far better on the offensive glass ( #3) with DIXON and DRAME needing special attention to box out.
Hope to hear some Bona chants tomorrow night. Safe travel to all.

The Duke’s best scorer, Dae Dae Grant missed both of the last two games. But it was due to a concussion so who knows when he be declared ok to play.i checked the Dukes message board for any info and the only thing there was a question from one of their posters if anyone else had heard or read anything about him playing and there was no response, so I guess there’s been no formal announcement from the team or school. His availability may be critical as in the last couple of games it has appeared the team on the court has been looking for someone to take over, as that’s usually Grant, but since he’s been out no one else has stepped up in critical moments so far. They will be a much more confident and aggressive team if he can play. Edit on Tuesday morning - rechecking the DU message board, as of this morning there is still no answer to the question described above.

If Grant is out due to injury that's big. 10 days ago he left the Dayton game looking 100%. If injured it must have happened at a practice 8-9 days ago. If the Flu he should be ready.
Their last two games (2 pt losses to Richmond and at St Joes) would probably have been wins IF they had their top scorer GRANT (18.3 ppg). They played Dayton very tough down to the end where GRANT scored 7 points in the final 3 mins of the game.
We need an A+ performance tonight.

i think JOHN BELLANTI, STEVE HONZO, and MIKE LONSKI are going to be the assigned refs ! with DICK PURPARO as the back up. I wouldn't mind one iota if the ghost of Steve Honzo showed up to officiate tonight's game. Steve was a terrific official, I learned more about the game watching his mechanics when it was a 2-man crew. Objective and fair.

I wonder if the 2 point change in the spread indicates that Grant is not playing, as opposed to a bunch of money coming in to change the spread. I really wonder how much is being bet on this game. I can’t see this game drawing much interest beyond WPA and WNY.

Early today fom the Duquesne athletic website "Guard Dae Dae Grant has missed the last two games for Duquesne, snapping a streak of 48 consecutive games and starts for the Dukes. Guard Jimmy Clark III now owns the longest streak for consecutive games (50) and starts (37)."
How do you interpret that? We will get the answer in less than 2 hrs.
GRANT is the #3 scorer in the conference (18.3 ppg). An amazing 30% of his points come from the stripe. He's #1 FT% at 94% (82-87). His ability to draw fouls at a high rate puts teams in foul trouble while producing lots of points. Quite an offensive threat as he is also #3 in TREYS made a game.
Our CHUCK PRIDE is #2 TREY % hitting an incredible rate of 48% and 62% in our 5 conf games. Hope to see him hoist more.
The Dukes TREY D is # 11 allowing makes at .348. Would love seeing our three TREY shooters on target tonight. MIKA .467, MOSES .427. ASSA's bad start has started to turn around. Still at a terrible under performing 29% but showing signs of life.

As of 6:45 still no word on the Duke’s board about Grant’s availability.
