I don't understand why players that start struggle and play better coming off the bench. Is it b/c it's less pressure? ?? If that's the case I think we should START every walk on that we have. Lose the Jump Ball and call timeout and put in all the starters and watch them go crazy. I don't understand.

A few short weeks ago, several of the players were red hot, seeing Banks at ofer and our back up PG throwing an egg from the field, let alone several other guys who missed 40% from the field, must have been hard to watch.

Coach - you have raised a question that has baffled sports fans and sports psychologists for decades. I don’t think you’ll find a good answer here, or anywhere else. “It’s a mystery” is probably the best you can hope for, but it has been going on for a long time.

Doesn’t it kinda make sense though? It is a step up in competition
When you start you play against the opponents best lineup, when you come off the bench you play against their bench players.

Not really that would make sense if it was modified basketball in which both teams sub 5 new players at the same time. In college the guys coming off the bench may come come in before the other team has even substituted. Also, many college teams only play 7-8 players so it's not like they play better b/c they are playing the 3rd string.
