I saw these notes and it really made me think:
1) unlike the men's game at the moment with recent retirees, the women's game still has legendary coaches: (Auriemma, Staley, Mulkey, VanDerVeer).
2) since they usually stay 4 years (no one-and-dones) the women's game has more recognizable stars (Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese, etc.)
3) there is some but noticeably less NIL activity, so you are watching them play for the love of their game and schools and not the financial offers
4) Speaking of NIL, players are discovering the value of "staying power" ie, they are more marketable anyway by staying recognizable, ie. same school, coming back another year. Transfer portal activity is way less prevalent
--- The women's game reminds me of how the men's game was 10 or so years ago, purer and with consistent headliners

I think the men's game really began to decline with one and done. I'm not talking about Moses Malone, but, rather, the Carmelo Anthony era. I guess the NBA caused it by lowering the playing age.
