I watched the recorded broadcast of the VCU game after watching the game live at Reilly Center. Tom McCarthy (Phillies announcer) and Chris Walker make a great team. They were prepared except for mispronouncing Luc's name (which they quickly corrected) and their analysis was excellent. But, I am surprised Walker never mentioned the Shulga shuffle. Watching the game live it looked to me that numerous times Shulga shuffled his feet before shooting the ball. The video tape did not prove me wrong. When receiving the ball he took multiple baby steps before shooting. There were quick small steps, that I have seen called on many High School players. I saw two instances on the the half time clips on the CBS Sports broadcast. Did anybody else notice the Shulga Shuffle?

I think what you're describing is called a gather step in the NBA. If you watch Flowers closely most games he does the same. It's a bit of a grey area, but here's the exact definition from the NBA's website:
A player who gathers the ball while progressing may take (1) two steps in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball, or (2) if he has not yet dribbled, one step prior to releasing the ball. A player who gathers the ball while dribbling may take two steps in coming to a stop, passing, or shooting the ball.

chrismoses . I’m familiar with the NBA rules. But this is college. It appeared more than two steps. During a stride stop (one foot planted after the other) in HS or College, the first foot planted is the pivot foot. The player may list the pivot foot when shooting, but not reestablish that foot once he/she levels the ground. I contend the Shluga Shovel was quick and "baby steps" so it was missed. I tried to slow the video down, but when I do the lower part of my screen is too dark to see his feet. It is some technical glitch that I can’t solve.
