One other Note - Huffman was able to take DB3 to the hole and score repeatedly, fueling Davidson's late comeback. It was painfully obvious. Then Kochera easily took that rebound over Daryl's back before launching that last shot. While it's great to see DB3 get his stroke back, he definitely hurt us on the defensive end yesterday. Kudos to McKillop for taking advantage of the Huffman/Banks mismatch. It wasn't just DB3 HUFFMAN, was driving to the hole pretty regularly earlier in the game when he was being guarded by PRIDE. The frustrating thing about that was CHAD kept coming off his man to double team HUFFMAN who continually flipped the ball to a wide open player under the basket. Side note: Props to the two guys sitting behind me yesterday, it was a pleasure to listen to intelligent basketball analysis instead of the usual Captain Obvious observations I suffer thru at games, LOL

BONA didnt help themselves with the centers hedging.

Without DB3 on the floor we would have lost that game in regulation.

Without DB3 on the floor we would have lost that game in regulation. For the record, DB3 at least had a positive (P/M) rating @ +2, while MIKA and Chuck were both +6 and NOEL was +11. Daryl has turned it around on O, and he hit some huge shots for us yesterday. Not saying he didn't belong on the floor, just saying he was a BAD match-up with Huffman - just physically outmatched. As noted - Huffman was tearing up the Bona D all game, putting our smallest and weakest defender on him down the stretch was a "head-scratcher" (IMO).

Without DB3 on the floor we would have lost that game in regulation. You can say the same thing about Assa. He hurts us on D but when he’s making shots he’s an asset. I just don’t get how/why this team makes so many bad defensive mistakes … backdoor cuts … getting beat off the dribble etc. We could have won that game by 10 in regulation but the poor defense, rebounding and turnovers in final 5 minutes almost blew the game. Many posters are saying after each win “hopefully this win propels us on a streak” … but we seem to repeat our mistakes. Nice to beat Davidson anyway but it’s concerning that we don’t have the defensive consistency from earlier in the season. The offense is going to be hot and cold but we need the D to be solid every game.

Why don't you guys watch Schmidt's post-game press conference and you would have your answer. Why not put the link in instead of making that comment? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq1tTH8r7joInteresting that MS refers to him as Jann three times while the rest of us go by Assa.

Yes, interesting. Similar observations to what has been posted here. For those who don't want to take the time to listen, he basically said that Noel was more effective than Chad because they run several plays for Chad and they are easy to prepare for and to defend (the known is predictable), and Noel was cutting to the basket off screens and picks, and when Noel gets the ball down low near the basket, he is almost impossible to stop, and he creates space for himself and rebounds his misses well.

I watched the overtimes and the beginning of the 3 OTgame vs Davidson. What an absolutely great game. Stockard scored our first 17 points. You can find the link on this Board in the Schedule and Streaming “sticky” thread near the top…..so many great games.

Insane posts occur on every school's message board: some poster on the Davidson board said KOCaHERA's foot was on the line when he started the shot but landed behind the line at the completion of the shot so the basket should have counted. Oh boy! An extremely minute point another brought up and I noticed this too, but what a stretch, on the game's opening tip, the BONNIES may have done an over and back. Message boards, you got to love them!

That's funny. No the rules don't include a tap dance on the arc. Toe on the line? Too bad. Officials got the call right after further review.

Loyola beat Rhodey today, so Rhodey slips farther behind SBU in standings. Focus should be on gaining 5th seed or 6th at worst.

I should have done both. The vast majority criticism on this board is usually addressed by Coach Schmidt in the post game on-line interview or post-game presser. People should listen to both and then hit the keyboard. By the way, it is Yann.

We did commit a back court on the opening tip. Ball went to MOSES and he passed back into our defensive end.
Surprised the refs missed it. Well, not really because they also called a foul on CHUCK because a Wildcat slipped on the floor. Reviews show there was lots of space between the 2 players. No contact at all.
Then CBS play by play John Sadak and Johnnies player Turner talked for two minutes on a foul that never happened, never called and speculated on various scenarios to secure a win. They had all Bona fans in a frenzy. Took me an hour to recuperate.
