Repeating our 6 point win over UMass at the RC just 16 days ago would be quite an achievement at their place.
UMass got out to a 13 point lead in the first half but we chipped away to get within 4 at the half.
2nd half we outplayed them scoring 45 to their 35.
The teams played each other very even in all aspects of the game but our + 8 from the stripe was a big factor in the win. We were up 1 with just under 6 mins to play and finished out the game with solid play. Rarely do we get 12 more FT attempts than our opponent but we had 28 to their 16. COHEN had a tough time with CHAD scoring only 4 pts well below his team leading 16 ppg.
We shot 51% from the floor. We will need a similar shooting display to overcome the #1 80 ppg team in the conference.
They are beasts on the boards. #2 Reb Margin and #1 on the offensive glass. We got after it in the RC as they were just +2 on our boards. ASSA grabbed 8 caroms.
We have battled back in several games this season. That was not the case at Gola Arena. Getting down to UMass 13 pts like we did at the RC in the first half must be avoided.
Hope to see our Bonnies rebound off a poor Team performance in Phily.

In a copy cat world of sports, and with Chad’s success against their bigs in the first game, I expect to see UMass doubling Chad inside. I guess we’ll see if Chad and the others on the court with him have figured out how to handle that effectively. Hopefully there’s a plan they’ve been working on because we’re going to keep seeing this until we’ve shown we can have an answer to that defense. And an eighth loss and under .500 record at this point would be depressing. As I mentioned in another post, I’ve been spoiled in my expectations.

CHAD can really be helped with the double teaming if the other 4 guys would cut to the hoop or toward the ball giving him a life line.when he is doubled ASSA should be moving down the baseline to the hoop for a potential pass from CHAD for a possible layup.standing in the corner isnt cutting it.

Beat them before, let’s beat them again
Remember their coach called them soft after we beat them at our place. Get physical with them right at the outset to expose that friction

We need to keep Umass off the glass today. Guards need to help rebound and I think this is a game where Pride needs 8-10 rebounds. Need big minutes from Noel Brown too. Our guard play should outplay Umass guards. Lets go get a W! big game for seeding!

Eager to see which Bonnies game is brought to Amherst. The Bonnies that beat them a couple of weeks ago or the team that could no mount an offense against La Salle. We need more than 2 guys to play well. At Gola Arena CHAD and MOSES combined for 36 pts, shooting 62% and 2-4 TREYS. They accounted for 61% of our points!!!
Good games by more than 2 guys is a neccesity to get this road win against the conferences highest scoring team and best on the offensive glass.
CHAD (15 pts, 7 rebs) outplayed COHEN (4 pts, 3 rebs) last time. COHEN will be highly motivated to shine big time on his home court.

I hope we can defend Matt Cross better than we did last time. He killed us. Matchup nightmare for Assa/Barry.

Actually we had one guy (Chad) scoring last game when it was still undecided … but Moses added 8 points in the last 5 minutes when the game was already decided. I expect more of the same with everyone feeding Chad religiously until they start double-teaming him. That always scares me.

CHAD has handled the double teams far better over the past 4 games. Except for his last 4 games his TO rate was terrible this season! He leads the team by a wide margin with 56. In addition to his 7 TO game he had 5 other games coughing it up 4 or more times.
However he has averaged only 1 TO a game in his last four. An incredible improvement I hope continues! Today he may revert to not caring for the ball but I see a trend that I hope will serve him well as we get closer to Barclays.
