Schmidt needs to bench the starters in the A-10 tourney opener and start the last five guys on the bench ... does it really matter if we lose by 20? This would send a message to his players that it is completely unacceptable to practice and play with no passion and no basketball IQ. That lesson, obviously, is too late for this sadly underperforming group, but it would send a clear message to the next bunch of for-hire players that coming to St. Bonaventure simply to collect NIL cash or just half-ass their way through another year of eligibility will not be tolerated. What a wasted season this was ...

Wish I knew the real story, did the team quit on the coach? Why are they so inconsistent?

"Low IQ" of 5-year starters, no doubt

Chad gets raked a lot without getting the call (some games it is called, the inconsistencies must be frustrating). But he's a terrible passer out of the double team. Even when he does pass it out with a wide open shooter, it's never in the shooters pocket. Why he hasn't improved in that area in 2 years is, in part, on the coaches. And as others have noted, the offense shouldn't run through Chad if he can't pass out of the double team. He is a turnover machine. I think Schmidt dusted off some of those old plays from the Nicholson era. But Nicholson was a better player who could do it all.
I wonder as well how much Schmidt misses Steve Curran. Whoever took over the scouting duties for Curran might be contributing to the lapses every 3rd game or so. It seems the scouting is lacking. There was a similar drop-off after Dave Moore left, but in the latter part of that season, everything came together. That didn't happen this season, and there isn't a ton of experience sitting on the assistant coaches' bench.

Wish I knew the real story, did the team quit on the coach? Why are they so inconsistent? I think it is st who they are. They all have weaknesses and coaches around the league have exploited them. When we are not hot from deep, we struggle as a result. Except for Banks, I noted the fluffy Afro instead of the cornrows and he went back to an o-fer. So with Banks I believe it is the hair.
