JAQUAN SANDERS mom was very involved in his decision to land at Seton Hall.
“At first, before all of these things happened (violence in NYC), we were pushing for St. John’s. But it’s not just about basketball,” she said. “At the end of the day, I had to make the decision that was best for him.”
“If not for the different things that were happening in Far Rockaway, I would’ve been OK with him going there.”
The 6-foot-3 Sanders, the first high school prospect to decommit in the Anderson era at St. John’s, had recently announced a top five of Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure, Hofstra, Temple and Butler. But Seton Hall was always seen as the heavy favorite, once the sharpshooting guard parted ways with St. John’s.

I like reading about all these possibilities but I am anxiously awaiting the first of several “Welcome to the Good Journey. . . ” threads sure to be started soon, I hope.

I guess it doesn't matter if you are a mid-major like Bona or a blue-blood, you are going to lose players to the portal. The seventh Duke player just entered the transfer portal.

Are Duke fans yelling to fire the coach or take a pay cut? They're coach isn't pulling a media embargo on commenting on a controversial event of turning down an NIT invite! That certainly needs to be included in the conversation, don't you think?

He hasn't found Chuck Pollock in his basement? Hasn't posted on the Bandwagon? If you want to know go find Coach Schmidt at Bartlett or Moonwinks and ask him. It is over. Get over it! SBU didn't go to a dying tournament. Without looking it up who were the final four teams in the NIT? That tournament is a great part of the HISTORY of SBU, but it is irrelevant in college basketball today. I love the history of our program, but sometimes we need to focus on today and the future.

Once again might I state. If turmoil existed all season behind the scenes why extend the animosity on an extended road trip? Better to drop the ashes and extinguish them. Good life lesson.

That team was playing so poorly at the end of the year that the NIT made no sense. Now, if the majority of the team was returning and developing then the experience would have been good for them. However, with everyone leaving then why bother continuing the season.

I love the history of our program, but sometimes we need to focus on today and the future. A decision that led to his superior resigning and multiple videos being made by the President of the institution should probably result in Schmidt commenting on his role in this. Its a reasonable, baseline expectation of the highest paid employee at the University and the face of the program.

Please, lord, give us news. Without it, we’re going to kill each other on here.
