Barry Evans is Bona's first departure, per his Twitter account Terrible, sad, but terribly unsurprising.

BARRY's leaving is on Verbal Commits too.

When the Bonnies played in the NIT the last time, I was talking to a hotel clerk in Olean. He was afraid for Bonas' because all player were graduating. I told him not to worry, that there was a player coming in who could shoot the lights out, and his name is Evans. I was wrong. But I think Evans still has a load of potential. He may be the one that got away.

I am sad to see Barry leave. I was expecting a Dion Wright type of improvement next year.

Should BARRY's leaving be especially concerning since the staff brought in PSA's VALENTINE and EVANS still left?

I expected this after last season after Assa had replaced him as a starter. I think he might have gotten some starts next year, but probably not a regular starter going forward, but he could have been a valuable piece, but mostly as a depth contributor. Venning and Assa are bigger questions IMO.

Not happy about Barry going, but if we can avoid posts suggesting they throw lobs to the rim for him like it was the simplest play on earth to do, there’s a silver lining.
Looking forward to highlights of him next year throwing down on a bunch of MAAC or NEC guys.

I’m guessing he will drop down a conference or two level wise and maybe return back to Baltimore area like maybe a Towson. Similar move to J-Winston

Horrible news. Good luck to Barry. Maybe he doesn’t find what he’s looking for and comes back.

Saw a TV show earlier today where Coach K and Roy Williams were interviewed for an hour, talking about their rivalry and careers. Roy was kinda joking and kinda serious when he said someday you could see programs trading players. He said NIL and the portal made it easy for him to step away. We’ve been hearing that a lot lately.

Barry was my favorite player on the team. I think that was the case for a lot of fans. Loved his hustle, defensive instincts, rebounding, and potential. It’s probably naive of me to think he could return. It’s just such bad news that I don’t want to believe it.

Anwar Gill from LaSalle, entered the Portal. I believe many years back we were recruiting him.
I checked. We initially offered him April 30, 2018 according to Verbal commits
