Good luck to Luc. I thought he was a good kid, but this league is a notch above his level. I still think Barry Evans could develop, but it’s 50-50. He obviously is not a banger and would need to keep developing that outside shot. I hate to see him go.

UMass’s JOSH COHEN has entered the Portal. As I recall, a terrific passer, which we certainly lacked with Chad (which had major ramifications).

Melian joins the portal. That's 3, I predicted 5/6, hope I am wrong.

I thank Melian for all the effort and spirit he gave to the Bonnies. He was never going to put on the weight to be an effective A-10 player. I hope he finds great success on his journey. I hope all 3 find great landing places where they can be successful and happy.

Does that mean that we have Assa, Miles, Duane, and Noel as our only returning players? We have a roster of 4 players and only 2 have any playing experience. Do we have any freshman commitments?
Schmidt is going to have to work really hard. We will be in a rebuilding mode again...
Will Luc have to sit a year? Does anyone know what is up with Chad?

Played 9 scholarship guys last year. 10 if you want to count garbage minutes for Melian. It appears that only Assa and Noel will be back. And even those 2, who knows?
When we entered 22-23 without a single point returning, I said wow this will never happen again. It’s entirely possible we’re in that boat just 2 seasons later. Crazy times.

Chad, Noel, Assa, Duane and Miles all could come back and have eligibility. We’ll see what happens. Luc will not need to sit out. That was always a myth. There are numerous guys on 3rd team in 3 years. There was even a player on 5th team in 5 years.

Yes by rule one transfer but i think it is pretty easy to appeal.

At the rate Canisius is losing players, they are likely to only have their Water Boys left.

I am repeating this too often… the strength of Mark Schmidt and the Bona program is developing tweener, overlooked players. Other than a few guys like AN, Lofton, Adams etc, most of our stars have been 3rd and 4th year guys or transfers who had to sit a year and learned the system while maturing physically and mentally. If any of you would have seen Jalen Adaway at Miami of OH you know what I’m talking about. He was a lost soul.
So bringing in 4 or 5 more transfers will never be good for our program IMO. This is not a good day/week when talented guys leave — or at least most of them. Luc was not a star by any means, but he could have been a bigger piece of the puzzle this season. Barry was just flat-out misused/underutilized.
Losing Barry is devastating because he is a glue guy and potential star… with great length and athleticism this team did NOT have last season except with him on the court. He has great potential. Does anyone think Schmidt is happy to see he and Luc leave?
It’s annoying when posters take shots at our guys who enter the portal by saying they will end up in the MAAC or some other lower conference or crappy P6 team. There are many players in those conferences who would/could eat our lunch. Guys like Brockington, Velasquez, Evans and others can always bring value to our program.
I think the players really like/love respect Schmidt as a person and coach, but obviously he’s not fully in touch with how these guys feel. Or doesn’t give a hoot if/when they leave.

So if people are saying it, its tracking with what was reported

Or doesn’t give a hoot if/when they leave " pretty much sums things up.

"Former Kentucky, Texas and California point guard Devin Askew is in the portal."
Four play.
