Anwar Gill from LaSalle, entered the Portal. I believe many years back we were recruiting him. I checked. We initially offered him April 30, 2018 according to Verbal commits LaSalle's Daeshon Shepard has also entered the portal. He's a really good player. despite the missed dunk against us.

If Barry really transfers down a level then I don’t understand how the move makes any sense for him. Playing time wasn’t going to snap issue next year.

I know we are not supposed to say this on this board but I am going to. If we have guys that would play a lot and transfer down, it is time to think the program message maybe out of touch. We are a school that cannot survive the YoY roster change over. I know it is the world we live in but we cannot lose 7-8 players every year.

hitting the Portal isn't the end of the world. Maybe barry will realize that his value is not what he expected and choose to stay at Bona's. Or maybe the coaches will talk to him and let him know that he's an important player the next few years. I would imagine that more playing time will be available for him the next 2 years. Hope he stays.

I wish Barry would stay. He was a good change of pace player who gave maximum effort. That being said He is one of the most offensively challenged player SBU has had. HE COULD NOT CREATE OR SHOOT! He would have the occasional three pointer because teams did not have to guard him, but he was a liability on offense most of the time. He also did some decent things on defense, but would lose his man many times. I wish him well in his future endeavors, but SBU can replace him with a better player. This might be harsh, but it is a cold cruel world out there for teams AND players.

You are right that is harsh and inaccurate I think Down the stretch he was adding more to his offensive game, he was developing that driving floater in the paint. Also- creating offense is more than just shooting yourself, Barry is a skilled passer and one of the smarter players on the team This portal stuff is just insane, I hope he reconsiders, he is a fan favorite at the RC and could develop his game here. I hate to see players wrapped up in portal inception and never reaching their potential

Geez! 30 guys must have entered just this morning. Just a hunch, but keep an eye on former St. Joe’s CHRISTIAN WINBORNE.

Where will Barry go. His scoring stats don't impress, so when teams look at him, especially higher level teams, he probably gets kicked aside. Lower level teams may like him, but my guess is he sticks in the A10, being that they have seen what he brings, my guess George Mason.

So who is leaving.
5 year players: Banks, Flowers, Pride, MAW
4 year player: Venning
Transfers: Evans, Luc
This is just what I anticipate. Although Venning looked awful at the end of the season, his bad leg hurt his ability, and became a liability. He hurt his chances for a professional career, and he looked out of shape. So he could come back to rebuild his credentials. Luc, I assume he is done, but it might be best if he goes. Surprised he is not on the portal. Probably wants to talk to Mark.

I get the reason why people don't like Luc, but he had a pretty decent first year with Bona. 11.4 PPG, 4.3 APG, 3.4 RPG, and nearly 2 SPG. I get his shooting %s weren't good, but he was only a sophomore. I think there's value in having a PG that knows Schmidt's playbook, but I be surprised if he moves on.

As the final buzzer sounded the loss to the DUKES you could see the disappointment on the faces of our Bonnies. BARRY seemed to be the most distressed. He will be missed if he doesn't return.
Frosh Year 21 starts, 18.5 mpg, 45% FGs, 25% TREYS, 29% FTs, 3 ppg, 3.6 rebs Soph Year 3 starts, 17.7 mpg, 60% FGs, 30% TREYS, 35% FTs, 3.6 ppg, 4.9 rebs
BARRY was our most efficient rebounder. Grabbed carooms every 3.6 mins compared to CHUCK every 5.2 mins and CHAD also every 5.2 mins
He was excellent rushing the ball up court like a guard. Handled the ball very well for his size. Displayed great vision with his passes. No one could grab a rebound in the air & in one motion make a bullet pass to a player for an open TREY.
He rarely looked to shoot. As a result he took only 17 FTs this season (6-17). On fast breaks with #s I never saw him finish. He always pulled it back or passed to others.
His work ethic and intensity on the court never faltered.
All things considered his value in the portal is low except to a team that recognizes his talents. Agree with fjs64 that he may get the most interest from an A10 team that knows him. With Steve Curran at GM they certainly know him the best.
Money has spoiled College hoops. Teams that adjust to dealing with the new way to recruit and coaching with the realization that your players will be short term AND have the purse for NILs will see greater success. Entering the portal allows the player the opportunity to potentially get more playing time &/or a better NIL deal. LOTS of players will test the waters. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I see guys who have played at 4 schools.
The bearded guy at the DUKES has played at 6 schools in 6 years! Turns 26 this June. Must be getting a PHD. For the most part, the age of devloping players has ended.
It is not an automatic that a player that enters the portal is gone. Hopefully Barry will be back unless GM or another team sees him as a missing piece. That may very well be the case.

Second BONNIE gone- KYRELL LUC has entered the Portal. Loved his enthusiasm and seemed like a great teammate always tried his best, good luck!
