Interesting. Does that mean the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big Eas will opt out of the NIT? Fox sports has contracts with at least the Big Ten and Big East… not sure about the Big 12.
Only 16 teams so don’t expect much room for the A10.

According to the article this tournament is going to start on March 31st? Good luck. Keeping players from entering the portal in the two weeks from the end of conference tournaments until the start of this prestigious event will be impossible. Change the dates players can enter the portal then it might work. I am sure Fox Sports will be making sure that teams don't refuse a bid. Money does talk.

I think the Big East Challenge series with both the Big Ten and Big 12 was due to the shared Fox Sports association. As with the two challenge series, this new postseason tournament looks to be a made for tv event to produce content and showcase its assets.

The NIT gave the power conferences automatic slots into the NIT and removed the regular season conference champion auto bid (used by mid majors) to prevent the power conferences from leaving and starting their own tournament.
It sounds like Fox believes they have the commitments to move forward now.

It sounds like Fox believes they have the commitments to move forward now. It’s basic dollars and cents. Fox has to fill programming and obviously knows the expenses and potential profit to add another 15 games on FS1, FS2 and perhaps Fox… and how much it will pay P6 programs. It’s just further watering down the NIT and making it more meaningless. I didn’t know who is in tonight’s finals until I just looked — didn’t see results from earlier this week mainly because of apathy!! I now will root hard for Indiana State from afar.
