I saw him play against Fordham, he was the best player on the court.

Very solid addition - with the added bonus of being a local kid.
The staff is putting together an intriguing group of talent.
Still in need of a backup big man, but otherwise appear to have some depth/competition across the roster.
Go Bonas!

Now this is a kid that can create his own shot! Maybe its the number 11 jersey but when I watch highlight videos I am getting Courtney Stockard type vibes. Courtney had that wicked quick first step and could score inside and out like this in the NCAA tourney against Howard: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqgX_lVlQPkOverall highlight reel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6CioEbUcxE

His three point percentage is not pretty. Looks like his best O is slashing to the rim. Led his team in free throw attempts and has a good enough FT percentage. Looks like he could be a good defender and a good passer. (solid assist numbers). Coach Schmidt needs to get some improvement and we may have a solid addition to the team. Agree that one solid big away from completion.

Agree that one solid big away from completion. For sure, but they all could improve their 3pt shooting. I like his overall game. Don't even need a big that scores just a rebounder/defender to spell Noel Brown

Eligibility? And KC, I agree with the Stockard comparison - we should be so fortunate! Remembering Courtney, he didn’t need to hit a high percentage of his threes to open up a lane to the hoop, but instead just enough to cause a defender to think about it enough to slow down to respect the possibility and thus give Courtney enough room to blow by on his slash to the hoop. Like with Courtney, Council looks like he only needs a slight opening , and if he can hit his free throws , he’ll be a decent scorer and a high impact player in the league , IMO. But he’s gotta make his free throws because big, slashing guards get hacked in the A10.

Solid response by Glen Law in regards to Melvin Council’s 3 pointer. He must realize his 3 pointer is a weakness. — Less than a 4th of his shots attempted were 3 pointers. In comparison Daryl and Yann struggled with their 3 pointer this season. Both had over a half of their shots as 3 pointers. — Among Wagner’s top 6 players in PT, Melvin had 2nd least 3 pointers attempted. — Stats strongly indicate his game is getting to the basket. In the NEC, 6th in scoring (14.9 ppg) and 1st in 2 point FGs made (154). Also 4th in free throws made (92). — Being a playmaker is a strength of his game. As a shooting guard was 4th in NEC with assists (114). The 3 players with more assists were PGs. Had 4th best Assist/TO ratio at 1.8. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/wagner/men/2024.htmlnortheastconference.org/stats.aspx?path=mbball&year=2023

Eligibility? But he’s gotta make his free throws because big, slashing guards get hacked in the A10. Ceharv, considering Bonnies one and done for the last 2 seasons, it is a fair assumption to believe majority of these new recruits will play just 1 season with the Bonnies. Hopefully I'm wrong, but it has been ugly recently. By the way Melvin Council has a solid foul shot making 74.8% this past season.

Chuck, please be forewarned that I made a similar statement that eligibility doesn't matter since everyone transfers after 1 year. However, according to "ctm77": Everyone who left played multiple years here. Hopefully you don't receive the same negative feedback from peanut gallery as I did. Take care big fella.

Sounds like a solid addition. Brings experience and I’d expect a desire to showcase his ability closer to his home and those he most likely cares about. As far as the “ugly “ references to everyone leaving after one season, many and maybe most are now doing so, but not really everybody. More so, I wonder whether the ugly fell from the sky upon us because we just happened to be standing in the wrong spot, or perhaps some other factors beyond fate, luck or powerful other people are the reason?

Good athlete. Hopefully it translates to this level. Not a 3-point shooter, period. His game is getting to the rim (which we’ve obviously lacked for some time). We don’t have a lot of floor spacers right now, that’s my primary concern. Moore, Council, Bowen and Rose haven’t really shown that. Jones has to an extent. Hinton as well. We’ve been told Kaba and Thompson can be that. I think we’re really going to need that from one of them.
Still, an intriguing roster. And it sorely lacked an alpha scorer with D1 experience. Council brings that.

I believe it is only 1 year of eligibility anyway. 2 years JUCO, 1 at Wagner, 1 at Bonas
