College athletes from overseas generally are barred from accepting NIL money. Why is the staff not recruiting players from overseas? Spend the money for travel and it would be less expensive than paying players. Also, get one legit player from a great program and open a new recruiting pipeline. If they like st bona they probably won't ever leave b/c money is not in the equation. Just a thought.

Coach - do we know that the staff is not trying to recruit foreign players? Obviously we haven’t signed anyone recently and I do recall seeing reports of us being involved with any, but I’ve not seen any report that the staff is not trying to recruit any. That would seem odd given the success of the guys we have had in the Program, many being brought in under Schmidt. I agree that if that’s the case, it seems short sighted.

Why have we had multiple people say this when the talented guy we got from Gabon left after 2 years?

International players are still benefitting from NIL deals, they use work-arounds. A lot is up in the air in regards to “labor for hire” vs “passive” income. They aren’t eligible for labor for hire activities but is NiL really that anyway? Idk I’m not a lawyer…

Also with the new proposed settlement, there is two income streams. NIL is one (no cap) and the college collective is the one that at least for some leagues will have a cap. Dont know if foreign players can participate in the collective side.
Also, all International players might not be on a visa. Some may have established citizenship (a long process that my daughter in law completed last year!)

Would it be better for Foreign players to just cross over the Southern Boarder and go to the University of their Choice as a Walk-on?
With the NIL in place would they need a Green Card and have to pay Tax on income earned?
