I am totally delighted that Bob Beretta has been appointed as Bona's new AD. He's more than ready to take the reins.
During my career in collegiate sports information, it was a privilege to know and work with Bob on ECAC-SIDA activities. I can say with certainty that Bob is a people person, first and foremost.
The organizational skills he demonstrated in charge of West Point's athletic media relations was top-flight. He ran a disciplined department and he and his associates (I called them The Mule Team) received multiple national awards for publications and writing excellence.
Bob led a successful D-I transition the past few years as LeMoyne AD.
Bob's Bona education served him well and he always spoke highly of his alma mater.
You wanted a Bonaventure Man at the helm? You got him. I think he will be an effective and proactive administrator at SBU. A terrific choice imho.

This was the ONLY choice that could've been made. He was likely option 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 2nd, 3rd, 4th..........this is what the University and dept needs. I'm stoked he agreed to come back to Bona and lead us into the future.

So glad and appreciative to MJ and her committee for this outstanding choice as our new AD.
Its really incredible that we picked a distinguished alum (spouse also an alum).
It does not get any better. That and the enrollment increase really make my day...............and week......and year......

Two articles in the last two days in the Buffalo News about the new AD.
What a relief to hire a Bona Man as the AD. Manhertz was never a good fit, especially after he disrespected the alums with the NIT and Brown Indian debacles.........OM gosh what a disaster!

This past Alumni Weekend during the coaches talk on NCAA/NIL Schmidt had a great moment when he recalled how he was admonished by a former AD for using the term cult when describing the Bona faithful. He said he was really happy when he heard Bob Beretta use the word cult at his press introduction. Mark than commented “The Cult is back” to loud applause & cheers.
