Oh, the new Bob Lanier Court at St. Bonaventure University is truly a masterpiece of modern design. I mean, who wouldn’t be thrilled to see a corporate logo plastered right in the middle of the court? Nothing says “college spirit” quite like a giant advertisement for Shults Auto Group1. It’s almost as if the court itself is begging you to buy a car while you’re trying to enjoy a basketball game. And let’s not forget the “re-energized brand identity” that the new design represents1. Because, clearly, what the Bonnies needed to boost their performance was a fresh coat of paint and some new logos. I’m sure the players will feel incredibly inspired by the sleek new look as they dribble past the strategically placed corporate branding. But the real pièce de résistance has to be the signature of the late Bob Lanier at center court1. It’s a touching tribute, no doubt, but one can’t help but wonder if Mr. Lanier would have preferred his name to be associated with something a bit more… timeless. After all, nothing says “lasting legacy” like being surrounded by corporate sponsorships. In conclusion, the new Bob Lanier Court is a shining example of how to blend commercialism with collegiate athletics. Bravo, St. Bonaventure. Bravo.

You would've thought AI would be better than that. Curious to know what your "real" take is on the new court design, francis?

I am reading about what sounds like multiple advertiser logos, but I only see the one for Schultz. Are there more I missed? After reading the above posts one might expect to see something looking like a NASCAR vehicle, but I’m not seeing that. I watched the video before reading the posts and did not have nearly the same negative reaction, but maybe I missed something. I guess I will wait to see the court in person this season before jumping to a conclusion. But for now, I am ok with the change, which I presume involved enough to pay for the cost of the work involved with enough left over to help cover other athletic department expenses. The reality is we need to bring in new, alternative sources of funding, and I am not nearly as offended as others with this change, and am okay with the fact the court no longer looks the same as it did when I played on it in the early 70s. Things change and money, while not everything, is important.

I really like the new design, it is clean, highlights Lanier and the lighter floor color should look good on tv. The AI I used was from Microsoft version Copilot default in the Edge browser.

No AI needed here.
I’m extremely perplexed why they completely removed the lower bowl seating. I thought the blues generated revenue. That logo must have been extremely lucrative to take away the home court identity. The students can’t be happy about being moved to the reds. The floor looks great but the atmosphere is completely stale. Who is making these asinine decisions?

Just a couple extra thoughts to uselessly drag this out even further. Sorry, but it’s really quiet here right now. 1 - Given all that I’ve read here about how horrible the local economy is in WNY these days, it is at least a little encouraging that we were able to find at least one sponsor doing well enough to be in a position to support the Bonnies financially. They have at least one dealership here in WPA and I hope they’re doing well enough to continue their support of Bona hoops. 2 - I wonder if this deal was the doing of our current or previous AD. Regardless of who started it, I presume Beretta would have had to sign off on it to make it happen and have it be a part of his tenure in the job.

The WNY economy is currently short staffed. Where have you been anyway? If you are in construction, building trades, truck driver, teacher, nurse, cna, lawyer, accountant, maintenance worker you will find a job asap. Get a grip..........
