Speaking to the serious posters on this board and ignoring the others: This is the most consequential hire our program has probably ever made. That sounds drastic, but it's the truth. Hard disagree. Schmidt is still the very definition of consequential hires. If they make the wrong coaching hire in 2007 none of this matters. If the Franciscans didn't come from Italy in 1858 to start the school, none of this would have mattered either. Taking this further, if the big bang didn't happen none of this would have mattered, of course if the big bang didn't happen nothing would have happened.

Attached is Sam Wilson's OTH article "AD goes deep with Woj hire." - AD Bob Beretta and Woj are “two are old friends.” The connection was Mike Vaccaro. — Discussions of GM for the basketball team occurred prior to Beretta being hired by Bona. — Beretta speaking with Woj about the position “he called me back, and he said, ‘Bob, tell me if you think I’m crazy here, but I think I’d be really interested in that position.’ And I said, well, I’m not gonna call you crazy, I think you’d be a fantastic fit. Your financial advisor might call you crazy.” — “While terms of Wojnarowski’s compensation from SBU are not public, it’s safe to say he’s taking a big pay cut to come to his alma mater. With three years (and reportedly $20 million) left on a contract. But it speaks to the loyalty many Bona grads feel. www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/ad-goes-deep-on-woj-hire-bona-gm-jump/article_441f83f8-76db-11ef-a59e-3f0da70f166f.html----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A good source shared with me "Woj will be tapping into foreign ball players to begin with - Noah may have been the 1st one."

Someone has an opinion, I disagree with said opinion and I get snark. Ok smart guy, when they were discussing dropping down to DII, would it have been more or less difficult to convince them to stay in Division I with Solomon’s record or with Schmidt’s?

What would be the ideal impact of Woj’s presence and social following? Well, if we dream big one comparison is Wrexham, Wales.
Many of us and millions others have been emotionally and even financially invested in Wrexham soccer since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the struggling Wales soccer club in November 2020.
Like Bonas and its surrounding region, the city of Wrexham had a glorious sports tradition which melded into a successful, sleepy community that lived and died with each match. It was and is a true cult following.
The celebrities with huge popularity — especially Reynolds’ millions of followers gleamed from dozens of blockbuster movies — led a Wrexham resurgence. The town has become an international tourist destination, while the soccer club continues its climb up the British leagues. The area has been rebuilt and reborn but maintained its underdog persona.
As one local put it: “We’ve all known that Wrexham is special, and now the world is also finding out. This the true Rob and Ryan effect.”
It won’t happen overnight and it is silly to think that the Bonnies will be in the Final Four anytime soon. However, in this new world it’s amazing what a true media star and special coach can do for a program like Bonas.
I’m not putting Woj’s power on the same level as Reynolds, but for this university and community his influence could tip the scales on many make-or-break signings and corporate sponsorships.

Thought it was interesting that 6-9 TRENT MURRAY of California was offered by ST. BONAVENTURE the other day, he put out a "Thank You" post and specifically thanked Coach NEAL AND WOJ for the opportunity.

Unfurl has interview of Woj on the Jim Rome show. Woj made following comments. — Loved his career, which he looks back on fondly. Reflects on advice given to him “it is ok to say you did it, but you don’t have to do it forever.” — It was not a difficult decision. My heart was to come back to St. Bonaventure. — There is nothing quite like a Bonnie with their network of fans and alums. — For years have been working with Schmidt, Baretta and Bonaventure. — Want to open new doors for the coaching staff and university. — I wanted to spend my time at a place where I really believe in. This place and university means the world to me. — Woj current office, is the old student newspaper where he met his wife. twitter.com/SBUnfurled?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

"Woj current office, is the old student newspaper where he met his wife."
How good is that. Woj epitomizes the passion Alums have for their Good Journey at Bona.
Amy shares the passion as well. She was a proponent of his move from ESPN to Bona.

"Woj current office, is the old student newspaper where he met his wife." How good is that. Woj epitomizes the passion Alums have for their Good Journey at Bona. Amy shares the passion as well. She was a proponent of his move from ESPN to Bona. Spent many a day in that office for four years (with my future wife) as reporter, columnist, editor.
