If you haven’t watched the replay of Wednesday’s presser yet, DO IT NOW, that’s an order! It will make your hour, day, week, month and year. IMO there has NEVER been a more positive moment for Bona hoops better than where the Program is now. These guys are pumped about Woj’s impact on the short and long term future and they explain why at the presser. You gotta see it yourself. Going back a ways, I recall that when Schmidt was named as the coach, I was underwhelmed and I recall that described the general feeling on the Board. He had a nice resume, but the coach at Robert Morris?? Underwhelming. Did anyone back then really see him lasting this long, having the success he has had and becoming the winningest coach in school history? As it turned out it was a tremendous moment, we (or at least I) just didn’t know it. So watch this presser and you will see a level of excitement I don’t believe has ever been seen around the Program before. There is that expectation of success that other programs seem to have and the absence of the “what will go wrong next?” attitude that has always seemed to hang around the Bona Program. This from someone who tries not to get too excited for things generally, and for Bona hoops in particular. But considering where we were as of the end of last season and the mess surrounding the preemptive rejection of an NIT bid, the school has made a remarkable turnaround between then and yesterday, which also included the start of the ‘24-25 season practices. Please do yourself a favor and find the time to watch the replay. I am not sure from how many places it is available; I watched it on YouTube. And yeah, I think I got a little over the top with the first paragraph.

I streamed the press conference. I agree, it was inspiring listening to Bob, Coach and Woj talk about their passion for the university and Bona basketball. The hiring of Woj definitely opens up the university to the next chapter in college sports. Many positive developments are on the horizon.
While this press conference was a grand slam I know some of our fellow colleagues are disappointed the because the “Stigmata” and St. Francis week weren’t mentioned. My gosh, they didn’t even begin the press conference with a prayer or people kneeling.😏😂😘😜
Keep up the good work! Kudos to SBU.
Oh, Amen

Coach Schmidt said "... Amy, thanks for allowing Woj to come to Olean again.”
My sister and brother in law's family lived in the same community as Adrian and Amy for years. Their daughter Annie was good friends with my sister's granddaughter in HS and still is after graduating college last year. AMY was not just "allowing" Adrian to make this big move. No doubt she was an advocate to make the move since her love of Western NY where her family's roots are a couple of hrs from BONA is well known.
Money typically dictates life's decisions. Adrian and Amy's decision to return to their beloved Alma Mater demonstrates the uniqueness of the Good Journey experience at SBU. It's remarkable impact on them was greater than the allure of what drives so much in the world.
Their decision will certainly impact Bona basketball in a dramatic way. However Bona will benefit in so many other ways including general enrollment at a time when many schools are seeing a drop in enrollment.
The WOJ family coming back to Bona should serve as an inspiration to all for the values they embrace.
God Bless their decision and the Bona family.

Many years ago, St Bonaventure was not included in the Big East, Syracuse was a driving force, also location, school size of fan base, plus others. Well much has changes in the landscape of college basketball, maybe the time has come.

Holy Cross got an actual invite and turned it down. That decision is still endlessly debated on the Holy Cross message board.

I know so many have a hate for all things Syracuse, but I highly doubt we were ever seriously considered for an invite. People around here might say otherwise, but I’ve never heard anyone externally say we were even close to being in the Big East.

Any Chance woj teaches a class or two at the Russ J J J school, seems like that could also be a selling point for students interested in our journalism program.

Teaching a course in journalism is a good idea. But his first year or more at bona should focus on all the aspects of the new position as outlined in his remarks and the identified ways he is in a position to benefit athletics and the school over all. Opportunities in the wide range of sports journalism has been expanding at an incredible rate. Students interested in a career would die to take one of his courses. But for now, I feel he must concentrate on the substantial task at hand.
