Alfred is certainly not much of a challenge for SBU most year. Despite people's egos, there really is no harm in losing your exhibition. Syracuse went 30-5 the year they lost to Le Moyne. Most years, Alfred's roster (in size) reflects that of a high school team and not a formidable D1 opponent.
I know the obvious connections to AU, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to play a stronger exhibition game to get you ready for the OOC slate.

In two weeks no one will be thinking anything about the two scrimmages, just the usual debate - win or lose - about whether we should keep Canisius on our OOC schedule.

Scrimmages and paid scrimmages (exhibitions) are just that. Schmidt wouldn't mind some mistakes in these bc he can pinpoint what ought to be fixed b4 the real ball drops, and he can get a better feel for combinations.
