On campus visiting my nephew and we want to go to the Skeller to watch only to be told they do not have ESPN plus. I need someone to tell me how with most of the games on ESPN plus, how do they not have it. You would think they would want a place on campus to watch away games!!

Not surprised in any way, Aramark has no freakin' clue as to how to run the Skeller.....total and complete incompetence at every level.........the ESPNplus fiasco is just typical.....how long is the SBU admininstration going to allow this to continue.....at our last reunion they were checking ID for sixty five year alums!!! Bozos!!! We need WOJ's assistance on this......WTF |

I would think our institution would want to try to make as much "dinero" as possible through the 'Skellar and it would be logical to have people stay and watch and give the place business if they took the time to work out an easy connection for the TV system there. Might seem trivial, but "message" can mean everything.... |

Skeller is run by Aramark (as are all the food service locations on campus) and its hours are nearly 100% the whim of whatever Aramark wants to do with it.

This seems to be brewing into a real scandal! Better get woj and the new ad on it! Make this a key first accomplishment of the new era of Bona ball, maybe woj can get ESPN to do a big live stream event tie in with ESPN and the entire Disney fox empire!

While I understand the sarcasm in your post, but if you are a Bona fan you have to realize not having a place other than your dorm room to watch an away game seems a little crazy right? Especially when we have an on-campus bar. I know Aramark handles the hours but when open on the weekends, give people a reason to go down there and spend their Bona bucks. Have drink specials and food deals based around the game being on. We have our games being broadcasted on ESPN+. Our on campus bar should be able to have the games on. |

It's a shame cause the recently renovated Skellar is real nice inside. I'm honestly surprised it was even open Saturday at 4PM. Pre-covid it did spike in popularity, I remember stopping in mid-week and the place was busy with students. Idk how it is now but I wouldn't be surprised if Aramark killed it. I'm sure they look at their bottom line and all and see a place that doesn't bring in much but you know a little effort, take some pride in your food maybe, and people would come |

Baretta is old enough to remember when SBU students largely ran the show at the Skeller. Was a sought after job back in the day. I think there were a small number of full-timers who kept the rails from falling off but the bartenders and food prep were students.

It truly is sad. You think the school of business could take it over and run it as a non profit student led project?! Students could drink, have fun socializing, watch Bonnies, have contest and open mic nights etc…while learning how to run a legit business and proceeds could go to the warming house. Probably some bs non-compete clause with Aramark!
