Guardedly optimistic and I am very much tempering my giddiness at this point. Sorry to be that guy. But...say we win Saturday, the combined record of our opponents will be 1 win 11 losses. I know, I know...Let me have it!

Phantom: Agree with you in part. The trouble is there are no opponents on the whole schedule for the Bonnies to measure themselves. The OOC is weak, and the A-10 is not lighting it up. Duquesne already has buyers remorse concerning their new coach.

I know, I know...Let me have it! Beat the teams you're supposed to beat, as the old saying goes. Nothing wrong with that. Many former Bona teams have struggled with that. Almost all teams do to some extent. Upsets happen. It's only the truly head-scratching ones that demoralize.

Technically Maplhurst is correct with "A-10 is not lighting it up" but they have been doing pretty well, so far this season. A-10 has an overall record of 27-11 for a 71.05 winning percentage, which is 7th best winning percentage among all conferences. Remind you their are 6 power conferences. A-10 wins against the P-6 with last year’s NET. Dayton over Northwestern 53 NET VCU over Boston College 81 NET St. Joes over Villanova 41 NET A-10 bad losses with last year’s NET Richmond against Marist Duquesne against Libscomb Following losses do not appear to be bad according to their NET last season. UMass against Louisiana Tech 99 NET St. Louis. against Santa Clara 105 NET Richmond against Charlotte 114 NET Duquesne against Princeton 55 NET No matter how you slice it, a 3-2 record against P-6 is a good start for A-10. www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2025/conference/Atlantic-10

Duquesne already has buyers remorse concerning their new coach. That’s a bit of an exaggeration about our schedule. Yeah we face some weak teams like the last few seasons … but Schmidt has 10 or 11 new players. Do we need to schedule UConn and Alabama? How would that turn out? Most of us and the media were not expecting much from this team, so the schedule is a reflection of that unknown. Utah State will be a test in Orlando. They are an excellent program. If we beat them, then North Texas is solid. They just beat Minnesota. We also play Providence — most seasons that is a great test. The A10 is what it is. There’s always 3 or 4 tough teams with the rest being average. Let’s hope we get into that too 4. Let’s hope we win the games we should in the OOC. That should put us in the Top 60 Net heading into the A10 schedule.

That should put us in the Top 60 Net heading into the A10 schedule. The A 10 does have some good teams. The regulars, VCU , who look like one of the better teams I’ve seen, Dayton, St Lou, who lost to an excellent Santa Clara team , St. Joes, Loyola. They so far haven’t had any “bad “ losses. ( maybe St Joe). They still have to prove they belong, Jay Bilas had 4 A 10 teams in the top 60. I’m not one of those who thinks a strong OOC schedule prepares you for the conference games. Ask coach how he is going to prepare for the next game and he will say he is not worried about who they are playing. His biggest concern is how can The Bonnies get better…in all areas. John Wooden thought the same thing with his UCLA teams. That being said, no one has mentioned Bryant. They are bigger than the Bonnies! I’m certainly looking forward to see the whole Schmidt family at the game in what to me looks like a very good contest.

Excellent comments, Hermit. How many Bona teams in the last decade have taken care of “their own business” in the OOC — won all games they should win? Not many. That is one of the marks of a successful OOC, IMO.
Stay focused on each opponent for 40 minutes. Don’t crap yourself against Canisius, N.Iowa, Niagara, Ohio U, Vermont, Bucknell, Akron, Northeastern … as we have so often. Multiple times vs some of those teams.
Keep improving each game. Figure out the roles and rotations. Avoid the bad loses. Steal a win over a top 50 team. Don’t get blown out by the better teams. Win convincingly over the poor teams.
There is enough meat on this OOC schedule to keep moving up the net and Kenpom rankings.

One at a time. This team looks to have a much better grasp of Schmidt's offense ... I am impressed with the sharp cutting and better ball movement thus far (in comparison to last year). Love the 1-2-2 full court pressure as well. It's not an all out Trapping type of Press - but very effective in slowing down our opponent and taking them out of what they want to do. The team looks much more disciplined on both ends. You can see the roles forming already - good scoring balance. Chance is our X-Factor, but it wouldn't surprise me to see any one of our 1st 6 being our leading scorer in a game. Duane is the 7th man, but I fully expect to see NOAH vying for minutes @ that spot soon. Both appear to be a step slow on D and do not give us the size / board-strength that Lajae does. When we face larger opponent front-lines, Lajae will see even more minutes. Jonah is a player and subs for Melvin/Dasonte with little to no drop-off.
KEEP CHOPPIN WOOD and STAY TOGETHER BOYS
