Noticed a banner on the gym wall that reads:
Smith League Champs
1967 - 68 - 69 - 70
Overall Record
31-1
What was the Smith League ?
Was that the Danny Metzler era ?
Who was the one loss ?
Thanks !

bishop smith league also had baker victory high from lackawanna[they played their home foobtall games in ron jawroski [sp] stadium]. during that time walsh also played mcquaid and kearney from roch and several erie, pa schools. at one point walsh football was ranked 17th in the country. in '72 the smith league sent chris patton [st f] to maryland, eric cadle [bv] to penn state for hoops, ed cichon [bv] to miami fla for football, gerry martin [st f] to 'cuse for football-from walsh, metzler went to boston college, donovan went to north carolina, the maguire boys to west point, prusack to notre dame...a golden era
