After seeing what was laid down on Baylor University, this is something I have said for years, the NCAA, the most corrupt organization in the US, needs to reform how it handles discipling schools and individuals.
Why should Baylor, the school, suffer from the mis-leaded actions of a corrupt staff. I think that infractions should follow the coach or player, not affect the school.
There are plenty of examples, look at the kids from Michigan, within the last few years, being punished for the Fab Five a dozen years ago. We all know what happened at SBU, it will continue to affect us for years while the main culprits, JVBK and Wick, end up with settlements and a career step up to the highest level in the world, albeit short-lived. I saw Jim Harrick at the Chicago Pre Draft Camp last week, still in basketball, a known cheater, hes now working in the NBA. The list goes on, and the ones who take the brunt of a coaches sneaky ways are the alumni, current fans and players at schools years after a violation occurs, with the coach usually allowed to move on and wreak havoc in a new zip code. Tim Cohane cheated at UB, it took them until 2 years ago to see a wining program again.
The NCAA needs to stop exploiting the "student athlete" and give back some of the cash from those crazy TV deals to the schools. Jeremy Bloom has a part time job, same thing, in context, as one of our baseball players working at a store, however he cant play football, after he offered to give it back. An Oklahoma 3rd baseman, who had cancer, wrote a book describing how he survived it, was deemed ineligible his senior year cause it was printed and some sold for a profit.
Hopefully one day, colleges will get smart and turn their backs on the NCAA once and for all.
