Let me beat a liitle bit more on this tired horse....I'm glad to see the City of Olean and the residents of 26th Street objecting to the infamous baseball house. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Mr. Grap wants to persevere in the face of significant objections and concerns by those who live on 26th Street and have significant investments in property. Clearly the residents of the street want to protect and preserve their investments in their property and the character of their neighborhood...it is certainly their right. The development of a "baseball house" would undoubtedly change the character and quality of the street...and, please, I am not suggesting it would be anything close to an "animal house" but college kids are just that: college kids. What strikes me about the whole affair is the arrogance of Mr. Grap, an outsider who arrives in a neighborhood where he is clearly not welcome and insists on persevering with this unpopular project and in the process, subjects his son, the university, and the baseball team to the scorn and upset of the community. Developers, by definition, care little about the concerns of those whose lives they are about to disrupt....it's a fact. Their motivation is $$$$...period. My advise to Mr. Grap. if he's hell bent on helping sonny and the team, is to work with a local realtor to find an appropriate rental for the lad and his teammates...but to attempt to impose his will, as an outsider, on a neighborhood and community he knows little of, and probably cares for even less, is over the top. Go back to Maryland, please, Mr Grapp and build another strip plaza if you're looking for something to keep you busy.
