We'll never see this player either. What a joke. Am I reading this right-we had a player for this year- and now settled for one next year? And he doesn't even have the bloodline that is worth waiting for. Now there is an exclamation to the recruiting year.

Rodney Hannah is leaving Houston, because Tom Penders told him to leave. Penders' reason? Penders needs to make room for this year's talented recruiting class. Quote from link below: "But to accomodate that group, 5 spots had to be opened up, so 4 players were told to transfer -- Hensley, Jones, Cherrington and Rodney Hannah." www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/college/3231761

Hope that Michael Lee will put some weight on over the off season. Looks as though the team is really going to need him to step up next year at the 4 position. The team has so much depth at the 3 position that if Lee can handle the 4, there will not be much of a loss. Felt that Andre was the premier recruit and would have stepped right in to play but with Relph, Smith, Dunston, Lee and Lottin, scoring should not be as much of a problem next year as it was this year. Still think this team is going to be much better next year and will be a lot more fun to watch. Keeping my fingers crossed that Tyler will not have to sit out for any prolonged period.

Gotta agree - I think it's doubtful at best that Rodney will ever suit up.
But my question is - why?
For one year?
Why are we wasting our time on a guy who is going to give us ONE year - AT BEST?
Gotta say I'm not overly thrilled about this one.

Obviously Smith's loss is a big one, and I doubt that Hannah will make up for Smith's absence; however, we have to keep in mind that we did recruit Hannah hard last year.
Also, while I'm not comparing this guy's abilities to Kevin Houston's, this is a similar situation it that we only had Houston for a year. He certainly contributed.

Andre's backing out is a bummer. He would have seen a ton of playing time. Anyone know where he decided to play?

just starting to get over the shock of this one; did anyone see this coming? Any insight? does this take the wind out of our recruiting year?
A pattern is developing....quality big men who are signed and then are released...(Baruch, Boggins, James, Smith) ... but completely support the theory that we do not want anyone who doesn't want to be at SBU.......college sports even HS looks pretty much like pro sports...the players are like free agents...alot of movement....
still believe we will win at least 10-games but with Smith the 12+wins was something to dream about....

Why won't we ever see this Rodney suit up? At least this gives some of the players on the roster some more playing time.

Everyone can rest easy about whether we will ever see Rodney suit up. If you go to gobonnies.com it has a pic of Hannah wearing a suit.

I hate to say anything negative about the recruiting class, but I sure would have liked to see some freshmen recruits. I'm tired of 2-year duds. If they're going to be a project, why not invest some more time in them? It's not like we need to get some veteran JUCO leadership when you only win 2 games.

Not to sell short hawkins and benson! One or two more would freshmen would have been great though. I suppose beggars can't be choosers though.

After reading that Smith is going to attend North Dakota State, it doesn't seem like as big a loss as first thought. Either Smith does not have Div 1 talent or does not have the confidence to compete at this level. Either way probably would not have been a real difference maker. I would rather see Bona's with guys that want to be here and at this level.
