Anyone read the Tim Russert Book, "Big Russ and Me"? It's on the New York Times best seller's list.
I did not know this, but Tim has always been a Bonnie fan and speaks a little about his allegiance to his favorite college basketball team in his book, and even gives Olean a mention.
Apparently Whitey Martin grew up in his neighborhood...
Go Bills and Bonnies!!!

I'll take Whitey's choice of schools over Tim's.

I read it last summer; a great, great book.
Tim Russert was Bonas' commencement speaker in 2001. One of the better commencement speeches I have heard. He pulled out a brown bonnies baseball cap and put it on during the speech.

I'll take Whitey's choice of schools over Tim's. SBU 79 - I'm not sure I understand! He may not of chose to attend the same school as Whitey, but he likes them as his choice for favorite college team! He had a nice paragraph on Whitey Martin and quoted him on his philosophy about discipline and children. Whitey worked for Father Bakers after a short run with the Knicks. Tim Russert attended John Carroll!

Just a little South Buffalo laundry being aired in my comment. You see, most (Catholic) South Buffalo boys would choose the Franciscan school - Timon High School (like Whitey). Those who thought more highly of the Jesuits would choose Canisius High School (as did Tim). Of course, I think Tim has written a wonderful book, and most of South Buffalo is proud of their native son. I just can't forgive that choice of high school he made.

Gotcha! It was a great book and he discussed his inner turmoil about his high school choice.
Before I read the book, I mistakenly thought he went to Canisius (the college). I thought maybe that is what you were alluding to.
I spent some time in South Buffalo, and I experienced some of that rivalry!
