I was originally reluctant to post this out of respect for the family's privacy, but am strongly compelled to do so and this news will likely be in the OTH either today or tomorrow.
Charles R. Dineen, '52, a long-time University trustee and one of the school's and the men's basketball program's most ardent supporters passed away late yesterday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama after a recent bout with cancer. I believe he was 77.
For many years, Charlie was the President of the First National Bank of Olean which was acquired by Manufacturers Hanover in the mid-70s. He was a close family friend and will be missed by the University community and many others.
May he rest in the Lord's peace and may his family know the comfort of our Savior in their time of grief.

My fondest memories of Charley involve his passion for golf. In 1985 in reached the finals of the Men's Amateur but lost to a young college golfer named E.J. Phister who played at Oklahoma State and eventually won the NCAA individual championship. Charley, may all your drives lie in the short grass and all your putts be birdie putts.
