Has they lost their ever living minds... 169$ a ticket. We all should get a free year for having to go last year. I have been a life long season ticket holder. The seats i sit in have been in my family since the RC opened. They have lost their minds, this is almost as bad as paying 50$ for my SBU class reunion dinner this year that was 5 small carrots, a ice cream scoop of rice and a overcooked chicken breast. Not to mention the 15$ bottle of Bully Hill wine. The unfortunate thing is that I will pay it every time and they know it. They dont care one bit that we are unhappy about it, as long as we pay it. it is just bad that we get abused like this, when bona fans are the most faithful in the country...

Like it or not, I would venture to guess that $169 a ticket is one of the least expensive season tickets in all of NCAA division 1 basketball. It would be nice to get a bit of a break this year due to the poor team they fielded last year, but the bottom line is the team needs revenue to compete.

Although it's not very fair to the fan's, it's also not fair to compare this year's ticket value to last year's ticket value. I think the athletic dept. knows that this year's ticket should be slightly hotter sell than last year's. Not only that, but we must realize that there are 2 more schedualed home games this year than there were last year (Exhibition + 1).

If you don't like the price then don't buy them.
Maybe that road works both ways when ticket price is related to performance...... if they beat your expectations you can pay $20 bucks extra.

I apologize for posting something not so heartwarming in a thread that was intended for congratulations to Jim Crowley. Congrats Coach Crowley!

This ticket price increase is unwarranted and indefensible. An increase again for a 2-26 team? The team's performance and coaching last year was pathetic. I, for one, am not as enthusiastic about the team's progress this year as many people are. I don't see many truly exceptional ball players on the team, and the coaching still leaves a lot to be desired. Combine that with the terrible economy in this area, and I think we will find many empty seats in the reds this year. (Do they still have expensive, corporate seats in the blues? If so, many of those will also remain empty.) A lot of families can't afford 3-4 tickets with prices like that. If the team was playing well, people would suck it up and somehow come up with the extra money. But with such a weak program and team, this will be the first thing to go. Granted the price might be cheap compared to many D-1 tickets, but that is not a factor in people's minds. They are trying to pay taxes and bills and are looking to cut expenses. A night out to the movies and dinner for 3-4 people can run $75 or so, but you'd have to go to a lot of movies to spend a comparable amount as is spent on Bona tickets, programs, concessions, etc. The university is hurting for money, so who knows what the answer is, but don't put it on the backs of the once-rabid fans.

Let me get this right, So if a team is playing poorly you drop ticket prices accordingly?
so that when they bring in recruits, not only do they have a bad team but a poor one too?
im not really understanding how you can sit here and complain about how we can't recruit the higher level players, Who go to the schools that can offer the state of the art equipment and facilities. Then turn around and say that since they've has acouple bad years ticket prices can't increase? Its called keeping up, if ticket prices don't raise, where is the money going to come from to make these recruting trips? more equipment? better facilities?

Great value implies people want it. I know a local business, who for years used Bonnie tickets as a fund raiser. Last year they could not give the tickets away.
Solomon's first year I had 5 season tickets. It was great family entertainment. Everyone looked forward to the start of the Bonnie games. Now it is different. Last year I purchased 4 season tickets and more than half of them were never used (I had difficulty giving them away). I had to bribe my children, to attend games with me and toward the end of the season they refused the bribes "saying it wasn't worth it." This year I will be purchasing 2 season tickets and hopefully the second ticket will be used.

The reality remains that Bona tix are the lowest and best bargain in the A-10. This has been the case forever and a day, even during the post season campaigns. If you want D-1 athletics in a top 10 conference it costs money. You can't have it both ways. If you don't want them, don't buy them. The bottom line is that we have the lowest athletics budget in the A-10. If the Bonnies start to compete, the fans will show up.

Just ridiculous to complain about the increase in ticket prices. They should charge $200 per season ticket. Captive audience with nothing else to do - why not.

This thread is ridiculous. Can we just all realize right now that the price of season tickets is going to rise every year? WE could then avoid this repetitive thread next year. The price of everything that goes into the program and the university rises every year. If we are going to compete at the Division 1 level we need to raise ticket prices every year.
I know the Olean economy is not a strong one. It's a bummer that some loyal fans may not be able to keep up with the ticket price increases. However, if we don't have these increases the team will not have the assets to be successful.

One cannot fault St Bonas for the poor economy in the Olean area. As I stated in a previous post, more and more communities are embracing colleges and universities as a platform for economic development. It clearly isn't happening in St Bona land and one could make the argument that the opposite is true. There are paid professionals who are in charge of promoting Olean and the surrounding areas to attract business. If this isn't working, fire them and hire people who can deliver the bacon.
I look forward to the upcoming season.

$12-$15 a ticket for 2½-3 hours of enterainment....
a movie cost almost $10, a concert to U2 or Bruce Springsteen over $50, a Broadway show- $100, a Knick game (forget about it).....
Finally a round trip ticket from Copenhagen to NYC for the Bonnies game at Fordham - hopefully less than $500...
The point is, we live in an expensive world and have the freedom to chose to spend as we want....sounds like a bargin to me! we all want/desire a winning program and need to pay the "market price" to help get it.

The Rochester game sounds like an exciting event given the circumstances of Gansey, Tyler and there NCAA-run....getting home at midnight on a Wednesday night doesn't seem so bad.....wish I had that opportunity...
lastly, anyone have any ideas or info on when the games will be sent live on the internet, video streaming such as the NBA & MLB have done? now that would be great!

Notice that no place in my post did I ever say that ticket prices should be lowered. No one, well almost no one, does that. (The Sabres are taking that approach this year.) I'm just wondering if the price increase is justified.
Each year I buy several tickets and also contribute extra money to the program. This doesn't include the money I spend sending my son to Bona camp each year.
My point was simply that with the local economy the way it is, it might be difficult for locals to attend games. Plus, you consider how awful the team was last year, and people may have lost their enthusiasm for attending games.
I'm also wondering how many of these posters actually attend games (I'm assuming "Oleander" does) or if they live far away and are lucky to attend a couple of games annually. Those that live nearby and go to all home games may have a different perspective.
By the way my tickets to U2 in Buffalo in December cost $95, not $50 as mentioned in a post. ;D

Copenhagen, you can get a few games with streaming video over the internet through ESPN Fullcourt. It is something like $10 for a one day subscription. Last year, there were 3 or 4 games on there. The quality of the broadcast is decent and in my opinion it is a good way to see the Bonnies play.
