A Niagara Falls High School basketball player collapsed and died following a basketball game in California.
Officials say 18-year-old Miquel Respress had just finished playing a game for the GC Ballers of the AAU league Thursday afternoon, when he collapsed and later died.
There is no word on what caused Respress' death.
Respress was to enter his senior year at Niagara Falls High School this September. He played center/forward for the Wolverines and helped them win the state federation championship this year. He had just been offered a scholarship to play at St. Francis.
Niagara Falls School District Superintendent released this comment:
"Miquel was a hard-working, responsible student. Teachers, staff and administrators found him to be a true pleasure to have as a student and athlete at Niagara Falls High School."
