Congratulations to former Bonnie Mike Gansey for making the World University Games team. This is quite an honor for a class individual like him.

You have a different definition of class than many who read this board. Gansey transferred and that has worked out for him, but I think maybe we should honor a player such as Ahmad that stayed through the darkest days. Gansey is irrelevant now and is only brought up to stir controversy, He quit and that is a fact that will follow him thorughout his life, but let's talk about something else.

I am tired of all of the Gansey bashing. This kid gave it his all for two years at St. Bona. He left a bad situation and has made the most of his career at WVU. Would you fault an employee of a troubled company (i.e. Adelphia, Enron, etc.) for leaving their job to take a position with a more stable company? Absolutely not. Why then do you fault Gansey for doing the same thing. I for one am proud of the way Gansey represented St. Bona on the court, and I find the stories of his post St. Bona success very interesting.

You dont have to fault an employee for leaving a troubled company, but you also dont have to post on their message board after they leave.

I wonder if posters on the Syracuse board still discuss Carmelo Anthony. Probably not because he quit after one year. I guess we need to create some posting parameters for this board then. Maybe we should only discuss four year players? Players currently at the University? We probably should exclude players that transfer to the University from another D-1 school (Relph, Williams, Houston), because they are quitters in there own right (and Lord knows we don't want to glorify a quitter). Probably don't want to discuss any recruits until they actaully put on a uniform because, as we all know, there is no guarantee that a recruit will actually show up once they commit.
In all seriousness, not everyone on this board harbors ill will towards Mike Gansey. I enjoy the posts about Mike. The more I see him progress, the more I wonder what if there was no scandal, what if he stayed... When you're a fan of a 2 win team, sometimes the "what if" is what keeps you going through the dark years. It puts the chip on your shoulder that keeps your passion for Bona basketball alive.
Here's to 2005!

The what ifs that kept me going was the heart and dedication that players like Green,Smith, and Lottin showed. My thought was that if these players could keep showing up so could I. Gansey made his decision and it has worked out for him, but it seems to me the only time that he is bashed is when somebody rushes to the BONAVENTURE board to praise him. Like I said let's talk about something else.

I was still rooting for Gansey last year in the tourney as I'm sure other Bonnies were.

Too bad people are still mad at Mike Gansey.
In my view, he came to SBU and had to live up to his end of his basketball and scholarship commitments, with the expectation that the school, program, and coaches would do the same.
VBK and company didn't so he left.
If he was my son I would have advised him to do the same. And this doesn't make him a quitter, it means he moved on to another school, where both parties could live up to each others expectations and obligations.
If you have a problem with this, then you should have a problem with the players that transfer in to SBU as well.
In the end, he represented SBU with more class than the people that let all of us down.

Do you all forget that we had Gansey playing power forward half his time here? Good for him that he went to a school where he could play his more natural position and didn't have to deal with the mess that coaches and administrators made.
