Bobby Huggins to be either fired or forced out of UC by 2PM Wednesday. Does this mean RYAN P could get out of his LOI if he wanted to?

Sipo, I had the same thought as you. His letter is non-binding! He signed in the summer. Come home Ryan, come home!

Now that it is official that Bobby Huggins is out at Cincinati maybe Bonas can pick him up. It seems that for many people who read this board whenever a player becomes available (transfer, left for personal reasonas, etc.) we ought to go after that person. Why not Huggins!

It would be nice to get Ryan, but we need to keep some factors in mind. He is exactly the type of student athlete that the president of UC would like..... and why did he pick UC, was it Huggins? the style of play? Probably style of play from what I've read. He is a long shot, but I would imagine that his former teammates would be interested in talking to him?

He is a long shot, but I would imagine that his former teammates would be interested in talking to him? Here's an article from the Cincy Enquire that may answer some of your questions. His final 3 choices, UC, SBU, and USC... USC still has an open 'ship but started classes the 22nd. SBU, does not have a 'ship to give. Thursday, July 21, 2005 Transfer is confident Huggins will be around By Bill Koch Enquirer staff writer ADVERTISEMENT Ryan Pettinella, the 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward who will transfer to the University of Cincinnati this summer from Penn, says he's confident that Bob Huggins will be the head coach at UC for his three years at the school. " That entered into my decision," Pettinella said Wednesday. "But I talked to Coach Huggins and he said he was confident that he's going to stay there. I believe he's had a winning program. I basically put my trust into (the fact) that he'll be there. I'm hoping he'll be there my whole three-year career." Pettinella, from Pittsford, N.Y., played in 29 games for the Quakers last season as a sophomore, averaging 4.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in 12.4 minutes a game. He shot 50 percent from the field but only 42.5 percent (34-for-80) from the free-throw line. He'll sit out next season under NCAA rules for transfers and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2006-07 season. Pettinella said he chose UC over Southern California and St. Bonaventure. "I chose Cincinnati because of a legendary coach in Bob Huggins and a great winning tradition," he said. "They have an up-and-down style of play. I like to get out and run in the break. Academics played a big part in it also." Pettinella, a business major, said he chose Ivy League Penn because "I was really focused on academics coming out of high school." But after two years, he became frustrated with Penn's deliberate style of play. "I didn't think it was conducive to my set of skills," he said. "It was the toughest decision of my life so far. I gave it a lot of thought." E-mail bkoch@enquirer.com
