Scott Young appears to have left the program; also new assistant coach.

I noticed this while checking out the WBB schedule earlier this week. I am surprised that there has been no release on the coach and/or bio. info. added. What a way to welcome a new coach -- shame on the WBB contact and Bonas Sports Info.
On behalf of the Bona's Basketball community, welcome to St. Bonaventure Coach Fleming and good luck this season!

What a joke! They hired the team manager as an assistant coach?!?!

Actually, he was the student assistant while he was at Bonas and most recently an assistant coach at Louisberg.
Coach Fleming is a great guy with a great basketball mind, who knows the program. His hiring is far from a joke.
Good luck to Coach Fleming and the Bonnies this season and also to Scott Young in his future endeavors.

Who cares if he is a great guy! Does he have playing experience? And does he have more coaching experience than just a few weeks at Louisberg?
From what I heard you could hardly call him a "student assistant."

I second Wally in congratulating Coach Flemming and the women's squad. He seems to have put in a lot of hard work an time while an undergrad. The kid seems like he'll be a good fit and bring a lot of energy to the team.
It's sad to see people have axes to grind against the women's team or their coaching staff.
It's sad to see someone be a hoops fan and not know how a lot of coaches get their starts. I am sure the New Jersey Nets' head coach Lawrence Frank never played basketball, and rather was the manager under Bobby Knight. So I guess he should quit because he doesn't have playing experience?
Support the team and their coaches and give them a chance before you start wielding the axe again.

Amen, stop bashing the managers! We spend just as much time with the team as the players do, not to mention we see more of the behind the scenes stuff that coaches need to know than the players ever will. Best of luck, Coach Fleming! And a true Bona grad will support ALL Bonaventure sports, not just the men's hoop program.

Get lost you friggin' idiot. Why don't they just change the name of this board to "The Fro Munga Room".
Your act is WAY PAST tired, take a hint.

Why is it that people can voice their opinion on the mens basketball coaches but not the women's coaches? Sheesh, you guys are sensitive!

I think the point of the coaching change has been missed in this forum. You recruited young players with a full staff of "coaches." (4) Now that the student is locked into the program you have one remaining coach....a former player and the X-manager. I am not making a case against the new members of the staff but rather the commitment of the University to the women's program and the loyal fans. I have attended nearly every home game for the past 10 years+ and many road games as well. This off season has been a disaster, which the administration seems to be supporting and I feel this is the topic which needs to be addressed.
If SBU is going to have a D-1 women's program then they should make every effort to give these young women the best leadership possible. As a long time fan and supporter of this program, I feel the administration has dropped the ball and displays a lack of support to the fine young women that have made a commitment to the program.

I couldn't agree with you more, Farmer. Good points. The women on the team deserve the support of the administration and they are obviously not receiving it

I'm extremely happy to see Coach Fleming in his new position. He is an exceptionally kind person from the conversations I've had with him and I've heard nothing but good things about his dedication to the women's team.
Best of Luck Coach Fleming

bonniesin2k6, I think you are taking a rather narrow look at the whole situation! I am sure Jesse is a very kind and caring person, but to just have a chat with the young man and get a feeling!
This program is in urgent need of leadership with the experience of developing a winning tradition (at least .500). I may stand corrected but with 13 scholarships this program ranks very low in successful programs at SBU. Let's take a few examples; baseball, swimming, tennis, golf and I assume a few others which have reached the .500 or better mark....I know many of these programs work with as few as 1 (one) scholarship for the entire team and still find ways to compete and win.
I am not against Jesse, I wish him the very best and hope in years to come we will all look back and remember where his successful career began. However I think the need the present program demands is an experienced person with many years of successful game exposure. I don't think the ladies need or the program can tolerate an on the job training system.....
