Let the debate begin... Jourdan Morris vs. Joe Mbang. The Bonnies received a verbal from Morris after Mbang committed to Rhode Island this past week. Both seem to be about the same height (6'6"-6'7") and have A-10 ready bodies. Morris appears to have long arms and has an all around good game, describes himself as an inside/outside player. Mbang is extremely raw and has excelled against his limited competition. Mbang was a 2 year recruit and Morris has 4 years of eligibility. If you are asking my opinion, we got the better end of the deal with Morris.
I am however curious why Morris rankings have slipped so much from when he was ranked 198. Does anyone have any insight? Good luck to him on the upcoming season! Now let's go get us a SG and another F to keep on marching forward.

I agree BonaMan. Bonas needs 4 year players to go along with the multiple Juco recruits and upperclassman already on this year's roster. 6'6"/215 is a solid body for a high school senior. I love the fact that he chose Bona b/f taking his other visits. He wants to be a Bonnie. Good start to what I am sure will be another solid recruiting class.

According to Hoopscoop, we missed out on something special. "This one is huge, because Mbang is a big time athlete, a killer on the boards and very effective from 15 feet and in. In other words Mbang is in the same mold as Jason Maxiell, Eric Hicks and Curtis Withers. He is also one of the leading candidates for National Division II player of the year and once he gets to Rhode Island, not only should he start immediately, but he also has a chance to be one of the best players in the league. It is a good thing Rhode Island got this done when they did, because the word was starting to get out as big time schools like Maryland and Georgia were making a strong push." Some food for thought.
Joe Mbang played in the same conference as David Fox. Mbang was first team region 3. David was not on any of the three teams.
Joe .514 FG% -v- .486 David Joe missed his only 3 attempt -v- David was 2-14 Joe .598 FT% -v- .574 David
Joe averaged 5.0 points more per game (12.7-7.7) Joe averaged 3.2 rebounds more per game (8.6-5.4)
In two head-to-head games Joe had: 10pts-11rbs on 5-10fg & 0-2ft 10pts-5rbs on 4-10fg & 2-4ft
unfortunately I could not find David's stats for this game!
BTW-their teams split the matchups with Mercyhurst winning at MCC 84-74 MCC won the rematch 80-76 @ MNE.

not to belittle Mbang but Hoopscoop is not well regarded as a recruiting publication. Most, if not all of their info comes second hand. I like the signing of Morris (especially his attitude) and I think he can contribute at this level.
the type of first year players we recruit usually take a year or so to get adjusted to the speed of the college game. A four year player, in our circumstance, is much more valuable.
