"yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."
I don't know if I really want to rehash this argument, but - I will.
After the last couple of weeks, this has been fun. Who saw Jourdan Morris coming? I, like most everyone else on this board, look to the experts to get my info on who SBU is targeting. Yet, searching the 'net has show me some names that SBU have missed on while no expert said the Bonnies were "in" with.
Ishmael Smith-Wake Forest Brandis Raley-South Carolina Gabe Blair-East Carolina John Fields-East Carolina
These are four names that I had not heard SBU involved with until after they committed. While I have not actually read a newspaper article about Smith, I have read articles on Raley, Blair, and Fields. All three mentioned SBU in their top 5 (Raley was top 3).
While I agree that being mentioned does mean doggy doo and that the only thing that matters in closing the deal, it's been fun to see SBU mentioned with Wake, USC, Tennessee, etc. I would have to think that the coaches philosophy is what I started with (not that ECU is our "master" but Wake and USC sure are). These guys must honestly think they can compete on the recruiting trail with the big dogs, otherwise they're wasting their time. I think as time goes by, and they start winning, these "crumbs" will start falling to SBU! At least, that is what I am pinning my hope on! So...who is the next Jourdan Morris???
One other thing I noticed, all of these guys are from North Carolina.

JAC, we were on Smith early. The big dogs came in after we had offered. I too like the approach of nothing ventured nothing gained.
We lost Omar Thomas to Western Carolina. I think he would have been a good one. I have to commend the effort the staff has been putting in. Hard work pays.
I think we'll see dividends soon.

Mangham, I heard the same about all of these guys, the staff was in early. To me that says that these guys understand talent, that's a good thing! What ever happened to the mystery big man that was at MM last year? There was some info that he was a junior...and some more info that he committed early Anyone?

Did we "lose" Thomas, given the commitment of Jourdan Morris... very similar in size, etc.? Trust in this staff, they will get the job done, I firmly believe.
