I don't mean for this to be suggestive, but I just thought I would piont out a conflict of interest that always used to trouble me. Judge Greg Benjamin used and may still accept court fines in personal checks in his name. I find that waiting to be a problem. The person who sets the fine takes the check in his name? I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume that the check goes right back to the town, but that's just waiting for trouble. On a more positive note there are several fine officers who do an outstanding job with handling a lot of the trouble that comes there way and kudos to them. It's unfortunate that a few bad apples may ruin the name of the APD as a whole. That is not an uncommon practice in many municipal or village courts. Actually if you write a check to the NYS DMV in almost any county in NYS, the check is made out to the County Clerk and in his/her name.
