Rev Geo: Where do you preach Sunday mornings because I'm fixin for a good moralistic talking to!! You sanctimonious bag of hot smelly air...you've obviously got a BIG bug up your butt for any and every Bonnnie athlete. Sounds as if you keep a running inventory on a wallet card of every transgression ever committed by a Bonnie athlete because you sure took up plenty of space recapping all of the sins they have committed over the recent past. Hell, why don't you shoot those bad boys or petition for their removal from campus? On second thought, take a valium, drink a beer and for heaven's sake, move those bowels of yours. Your constipation's made you nasty!

Look, a current Bonaventure student posted on this site that he was an eye witness to this last incident. He said it wasn't just some minor pushing and shoving incident, he called it a "large brawl". He said that "most of the basketball team was there" and "they were the cause of the problem". He also stated that A. Smith was "trying to take swings at police officers". I'm sorry, but that bothers me. If it doesn't bother you, that's ok with me. We just obviously have different standards for how we expect Bonaventure Men to behave. Finally, I've been a Bonnies basketball fan since I was a little kid and saw Tom Stith play. You are dead wrong that I have a problem with "every Bonnie athlete".

No I don't. If it's not true, I would think that someone else who was there would step up and challenge his account. Nothing so far...

Hey OL2, there are some alum who actually care about the university and it's image. If you think that this kind of repeated behavior and publicity is good for Bonas you've got your priorities very mixed up. Those who have expressed their concern and/or displeasure with the current state of affairs at SBU are to be applauded. This is supposed to be a Franciscan University dedicated to educating individuals to become positive contributing factors to our society, not a half-way house for junior delinquents. We want our degrees to stand for something positive! And the past few years have been anything but positive.

Just because no one rebuffed someones account does not make it true. There are plenty of people on this campus that despise the basketball team and i am sure that they would not be against making up false claims to make any member of the team look bad.
First off the OTH is not publicity. There have been no news reports of this incident outside of the local newspaper. This incident is not news, it has not even shown up on the A-10 board. I will agree that there has not been much positive news as of late, but that will come with a corrupt administration. This should not be discussed this much, it is simply a college student being in college. This may not be something you approve of, but it is certainly not something that is half as big a deal as people on this board make it out to be.
Bonaventure is a party school, the sooner some of you realize this the better. The reason many students come is to have a good time. This university is not well known for academics, it is however, well known for having lots of booze. Check Princeton Review if you do not believe my what i am saying. You wont find Bonas in any of the academic categories, but you will in the parties.

Ok, for the sake of argument let's assume the student's account isn't true . What we do know for sure is that two students associated with our basketball program were arrested. The incident was serious enough that the APD had to call in the county sheriff's department and the OPD to bring it under control. On that basis alone, you would have to think that this was more than a little pushing and shoving as some have tried to paint this.
As far as the Princeton review goes, I am aware of their findings, but if you explore their methodology you may well conclude that the manner in which they arrive at their conclusions is un-scientific at best. In my opinion, taking the position that SBU is a party school and that we have to accept that this kind of stuff will continue ad-nauseum is a defeatist attitude.
Finally, I don't share your views on SBU academics. I think that SBU provides a great education and that the vast majority of the kids who go there take advantage of that.
