Rooted in the Franciscan tradition, the Mt. Irenaeus community is committed to simple, joyful, healing communion with God and all creation through contemplation and the communal experience of God's justice, love and peace in contemporary everyday life. Life at Mt. Irenaeus is centered on attending to what is primary: presence to God, others, one's self and earth. All who participate in the mission of the Mountain join with Jesus Christ in "making all things new" by creating and nourishing a community that transcends a particular place, opening to all peoples, ages and cultures.
The mission of Mt. Irenaeus is to join with Jesus Christ in "making all things new!"
(Rev. 21:5)

Fox…Thanks for this timely post. Last week, October 4th , was the Feast of St. Francis & Bona’s week in honor of Francis was culminated with a mass & blessing of the animals on the lawn in front of the Bona Chapel. Many posters on this board have experienced the personal renewal provided by a trip to the mountain. Those that have not, I urge you to explore the mountain for a wonderful Franciscan expeience. Over the past two weeks I have received emails from Doug Looney & his lovely wife Lisa Jo. Some of you may know Doug who worked diligently with Fr. Judd & all the friars At Bona from 1999- 2004 & and was an active facilitator of many activities at the Mountain. Fr. Judd visited them just recently in Bolivia. He & his wife (a Bona grad) have dedicated their lives to the Maryknoll Lay Missions. Since leaving Bona in 2004, Doug, his wife & 3 children (Aidan, Nora & Maeve) have worked serving the poorest of the poor in Bolivia. Sadly, Doug has been diagnosed with a tumor in one testical & was rushed home to the states to be examined & treated by a NY Doctor. Their airfare for the family & other unexpected expenses have left them in financial need. God willing, they plan to return to Bolivia in December. I ask that you think of sending a contribution to help them in their time of need. Send to Lisa Jo & Doug Looney, Maryknoll Lay Mission, Maryknoll, NY 10545. As always, I greatly enjoy the Bandwagon as a forum for commentary provided on all matters pertaining to Bona hoops & the wider Bona community. The range of emotions and opinion share one thing in common. An abiding love & passion for St. Bonaventure. Obviously, my post concerning Doug’s need is not aligned with a discussion of Bona hoops, which I greatly enjoy. I apologize for that but hope you respond to a member of the Bona family in need. Doug plans to visit Bona in the coming weeks. Go Bonnies!
